The Licensure Evaluator within the Office of Educator Licensure is responsible for evaluating applications for licensure, and performing other licensure related customer service duties as required. The selected candidate must have or develop knowledge of the laws and regulations that govern educator licensure. This position is responsible for reviewing transcripts and other supporting documentation and determining if the applicant has satisfied the requirements for licensure. The Licensure Evaluator must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate applicant credentials and grant licensure to qualified applicants;
Provide accurate written and verbal correspondence to applicants who are not licensed regarding their remaining licensure requirements and how they can be satisfied;
Collaborate as part of a team with document scanning, processing of mail, and responding to telephone inquiries;
Attend and conduct meetings and workshops;
Respond to licensure inquiries and resolve issues;
Collaborate with other staff on assigned licensure initiatives;
Deliver training and support to units within the Department, school districts, professional associations and others upon request;
Preferred Qualifications:
Based on the high volume of applications the department receives, the selected individual should possess:
High-level critical thinking skills;
Ability to exercise analytical judgment in a fast paced environment;
Good knowledge of educator licensure policies, procedures and requirements;
Understanding of how to utilize ELAR (online licensure system) and experience in reviewing college and university transcripts;
Strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to work as part of a team.
Travel may be required for this position.

Qualifications

Minimum Entrance Requirements:
Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree and at least four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional educational experience in a specific or related content area, educational program/or service;
a Master's degree or higher in a specific or related educational content area may be substituted for two years of the required experience -- 30 semester hours equals one year of experience for substitution purposes.
Special Requirements: Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's License or the equivalent from another state may be required.
