Job Description:

The Leading by Example Division (LBE) supports the adoption of a wide range of emissions reduction, sustainability, and clean energy efforts for Massachusetts state facilities. The LBE intern will work with all Division staff on developing and implementing a variety of decarbonization, renewable energy, electric vehicle (EV), and EV charging infrastructure projects and programs associated with state government operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research on a variety of topics (policies, technologies, etc.) that support state government facility decarbonization and energy efficiency goals
  • Energy data collection and analysis associated with state operations and building reporting requirements
  • Drafting of guidance and outreach materials to help state entities navigate funding, technology and/or policy requirements and opportunities
  • Support LBE staff management of various clean energy grant programs that help state entities meet their decarbonization and electrification goals
  • Public event participation and support, which may include preparation of LBE presentation materials, coordination of speakers, presentations at meetings, or assistance with event planning and logistics

Preferred Knowledge and Skills

  • General knowledge of clean energy and environmental topics
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage competing priorities
  • Strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills

Hours per week:

  • Full time - 37.5 hours per week
  • This position is partially remote with a hybrid schedule that includes a minimum of one day in-office per week
  • Reports to LBE Clean Energy Engagement Coordinator

Other relevant information:

  • Contracted Student Internship compensation will be up to $23/hour for College Undergraduate Students and up to $35/hour for Graduate Students
  • Internship duration June 2 - August 15
