SHERIFF'S OFFICE OF WORCESTER COUNTY

POSITION DESCRIPTION[1]

POSITION: Intelligence Analyst

BARGAINING UNIT: None

I. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

It is the responsibility of the Intelligence Analyst to perform a variety of duties including clerical functions in accordance with established standard operating procedures.

II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:[2]

  • Collect raw data from all types of investigations throughout the jail for analysis in order to assist with ongoing criminal cases
  • Create a data base and files on incarcerated individuals tracked by The Special Services Department.
  • Assist in compiling, and analyzing criminal and intelligence data to locate and identify patterns and trends of crimes, criminals, and criminal organizations tracked by Special Services.
  • Upload documents, and case files into an electronic filing system.
  • Create link charts and other visual displays to aid in the investigative process
  • Produce and review daily and weekly intelligence reports, and monthly facility climate reports
  • Assist with the inmate telephone system; including listening to phone calls, and other aspects of the phone system.
  • Complete assignments in a clear, and concise manner. Maintain professional relationships with departmental staff, as well as state, and local employees.
  • Abide by the Rules, and Regulations of The Worcester County Sheriff's Office.
  • Complete mandatory 40-hour in-service training, as well as outside training.
  • To perform any other duties assigned.

Qualifications

III . PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Ability to analyze information, provide judgments, and make recommendations to support decision makers to take action and mitigate all threats.
  • Working knowledge of analytical charting methods.
  • Ability to analyze data, develop and deliver presentations, write reports, research, and work independently.
  • Strong communication skills. Ability to understand, and follow instructions precisely.
  • Knowledge of word processing programs (i.e.; Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel)
  • Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information and sound judgement.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

A. Education and Experience :

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in business administration or related field;

B . Knowledge, Ability and Skill :

  • Must possess a good command of both oral and written language.
  • Familiarity with related rules, regulations, orders, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge or information dissemination related to criminal offenders and public records.
  • Capacity to learn communication system techniques.
  • Ability to work alone and handle emergency situations calmly, promptly and efficiently.
  • Skill in typing, computers and record keeping.
  • Must possess good listening skills.

V. SUPERVISION RECEIVED :

The Communications Dispatcher/Clerk works under general supervision of the Assistant Deputy Superintendent of Special Services, or their designee.
