Job Description
The Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) under the Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking EVS Hospital Cleaners to join its Environmental Services team. As a member of the facility team, daily communication and interaction is essential as well as working in a professional and safe manner. The incumbent will complete shift transition assignments, report end of shift duties requiring completion and will notify supervisor of maintenance concerns.
Please Note:
Full-Time: 6:45am - 3:15 (varied days off)
Full-Time: 2:45pm - 11:15pm (varied days off)
Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):
- Performs day-to-day housekeeping services to the main hospital and other buildings on campus to ensure a clean, attractive facility in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
- Sweeps, vacuums, and washes floors, using appropriate equipment and supplies to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the hospital.
- Dusts, polishes and washes interior surfaces such as windows furniture, walls, ceilings, etc., using appropriate supplies and equipment in order to maintain building in a clean and orderly condition.
- Prepares beds after washing using appropriate linen supplies and removes/hangs window draperies and bedside curtains as needed.
- Cleans toilets, lavatories, washrooms, mop closets, etc., using appropriate supplies and equipment in order to maintain the appearance and cleanliness of such areas.
- Empties and relines trash receptacles, paying particular attention to the safe and proper handling of hazardous waste.
- Arranges and prepares conference rooms, patient care units and other designated areas as needed.

Required Qualifications:
- Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English to communicate effectively with a diverse group of employees, supervisors and visitors.
- Skilled in the ability to follow oral and written instructions/directions.
- Talent for establishing and maintaining harmonious working relationships and deal tactfully with others.
- Working knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in general institution/hospital housekeeping work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated language skills that allow for two-way communication, effective patient service, coordination with other members of the patient care team.
- Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.

Located on over 100 acres in Worcester, Massachusetts, Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) is part of an integrated network of effective, efficient and culturally competent mental health services. It provides intermediate and long-term inpatient care for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness who live in Massachusetts, as well as individuals requiring specialized court ordered evaluations.
WRCH provides inpatient services to 290 adults, inclusive of a Deaf Inpatient Mental Health Service, and 30 adolescents on the ACCU.
