The Department of Public Health's Tewksbury Hospital is looking for an outgoing and reliable individual to fill a Electrician I position.
Tewksbury Hospital serves approximately 360 inpatients whose care is under the auspices of both the Department of Public Health and the Department of Mental Health. Tewksbury Hospital is a Joint Commission accredited long term and acute care hospital that provides comprehensive treatment, care, and comfort to adults with medical and/or mental illnesses. A full range of services are provided including 24/7 nursing, nurse practitioners, medicine, as well as psychiatric and psychological services, a six bed inpatient dialysis unit, clinical laboratory, radiology, respiratory care, nutrition, speech/language pathology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, therapeutic recreation, and pharmacy. This clinical environment is strictly governed by regulatory standards that mandate day to day interventions and services.

In addition to the main hospital site, the hospital campus is home to multiple residential 24/7 programs including programs for adults in recovery and two (2) locked young adolescent programs. These programs serve approximately 300 clients daily.
Detailed Statement of Duties and Responsibilities
• Performs all duties necessary for the planning, design, installation, modification, repair and removal of electrical, TV cabling, alarm and CCTV systems.
• Determines the need for, prices, orders, stores, inventories, distributes and documents the use of stock and special order parts and materials.
• Operates, maintains, and secures the operation of all departmental / hospital equipment.
• Works with employees, contractors, consultants, vendors and others designated by the administration of the hospital and/or are necessary to successfully perform the duties described within this document.
• Employee establishes and maintains professional working relationships with others; including but not limited to: other staff members and employees who are requesting maintenance services; visitors, patients and their families; and other maintenance personnel.
• Ensure hospital compliance with all related codes, regulations and standards.
• Develops and maintains a knowledge of, complies with, enforces, and trains assigned employees on, appropriate hospital policies, procedures, practices and directives.
• Attends all assigned meetings, training and other gatherings / events.
• Maintains a safe work environment.
- Performs all other duties related to the successful completion of requests, orders, job duties and directives approved by the hospitals administration of their designee.
Qualifications required at hire.
• Knowledge of and ability to interpret all codes, regulations and standards related to the planning, design, installation, modification, repair and removal of electrical, TV cabling, alarm and CCTV related systems.
• Ability to perform all physical activities related to the duties outline on this document.
• Ability to read blue prints, drawings and sketches.
• Ability to follow and issue written and verbal instructions.
Qualifications acquired on job.
• Knowledge of hospital related codes, regulations, policies, procedures and directives.
• Knowledge of hospital systems and components.
• Knowledge of hospital related contracts and agreements.

Qualifications
First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.
Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicant must have at least one year of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in the supervision and installation of electrical systems.
Special Requirements: Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Journeyman or Master Electrician's License issued by the State Examiners of Electricians.
NOTE: License requirement regarding the Department of Public Works: Neither general street lighting nor traffic light work performed by the Department of Public Works or its agents or employees on public ways is subject to the licensing requirements of M.G.L. Chap. 141. 1976 - 1977 Op AG, No. 26. Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
License and/or Certification Requirements:
Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Journeyman or Master Electricians license.
Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Drivers License.
Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate's years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division's Hiring Guidelines. For all bargaining unit positions (non-management), compensation is subject to the salary provisions outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement and will apply to placement within the appropriate salary range.
