Position Summary
Under the direction of the Senior Electrical Engineer or designee, the Electrical Engineer I will be responsible for overseeing, evaluating, and supervising maintenance and testing of electrical equipment within the MassDOT Highway System distribution network including all associated contracted work. This includes, but is not limited to, 15kV and 480-volt electrical distribution systems and equipment, emergency standby generator systems, UPS systems, pumping stations, building HVAC and tunnel ventilation systems, the pumping systems, Tunnel Ventilation, High Voltage Switchgear and Generators. The Electrical Engineer I will provide day to day support and oversight of normal maintenance activities including troubleshooting assistance. The Electrical Engineer I will review Electrical Project drawings and specifications and identify any all discrepancies. The discrepancies will be forwarded to the Sr. Electrical Engineer for review and subsequent submission to the project manager, design engineer and engineer of record as applicable.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Verify system testing to ensure program performance and adherence to system requirements.
- Coordinate schedule for all electrical system testing along with testing of the System Control and Data Acquisition device points for electrical building systems.
- Perform Electrical project site visits as directed to confirm work is in accordance with conformed drawings and specifications.
- Assist D6 Facilities Engineering with maintenance problems.
- Provide troubleshooting/technical support for preventative and corrective work order related issues.
- Coordinate with city, municipal, state, and other outside agencies as necessary.
- Respond to facilities, roadway and tunnel incidents and emergencies 24/7.
- Support other Facilities and D6 Sections.
- Oversee and manage service contracts
- Ensure proper safety procedures are being followed and perform other job-related functions as required.
- Must have the ability to work at heights on buildings, bridges and roadways and work in close proximity to live traffic on roads and tunnels.
- Must possess reasonable physical aptitude to perform the required duties and responsibilities.
This position is eligible for a five-thousand dollar ($5,000) signing bonus ("Signing Bonus") if you are newly hired at MassDOT. Current MassDOT employees are not eligible for the Signing Bonus. The Signing Bonus will be paid in two parts: 1) $3,000 (less applicable taxes) included in the employee's first paycheck. 2) $2,000 (less applicable taxes) after the successful completion of the employee's probationary period.
