Job Description
The Department of Mental Health's Brockton Multi Service Center (BMSC) is seeking a licensed social worker to serve as a Dual Diagnosis Outpatient Clinician for the BMSC outpatient department. The identified candidate will be a part of a multi-disciplinary team that provides comprehensive services to adults individuals living in the community in a variety of settings. The BMSC Dual Recovery Outpatient Clinician will: provide ongoing individual and group treatment to adults who carry both mental health and substance use diagnoses; conduct initial and ongoing assessments (inclusive of specialized dual diagnoses screenings) to support treatment planning for referred individuals; serve as a multidisciplinary team member; assume responsibility for documentation standards set by the agency; provide clinical consultation and training to the agency regarding dual-diagnosis; develop person-centered treatment plans; serve as a liaison to the community regarding resources. The BMSC Outpatient Clinic includes the Plymouth Satellite clinic; therefore, travel between clinics to deliver services may be required based on clinical need.

Please Note: This position is 40 hours per week on the day shift 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Days off: Saturday and Sunday.
Duties and Responsibilities (these are not all inclusive):
• Conducts clinical assessments on all individuals referred to determine level of substance use and develop an individualized treatment plan.
• Provides individual psychotherapy, supportive counseling, outreach and casework to individuals through consistent contact and treatment planning in order to decrease personal distress and increase ability to develop and utilize more effective coping skills.
• Manages a schedule that promotes at least fifty percent of working hours of billable contact completed each week.
• Develops and provide group therapy in the areas of substance use education, relapse prevention, harm reduction, and ongoing support for recovery.
• Serves on a multidisciplinary team by attending regularly scheduled meetings, coming prepared to present psychosocial histories, mental status, diagnosis, treatment provided and the treatment planned for assigned cases as well as participating in discussion of other cases so as to ensure that consumers receive optimal care.
• Assesses and responds to crisis and emergency situations by intervening immediately with appropriate clinical treatment or referral.
• Assumes responsibility for clinical record documentation requirements by recording in the record in a thorough and timely manner so that other providers are aware of treatment provided and so that the record is in compliance with agency standards.
• Ensures that all billing documents and supporting documentation are completed in a timely manner.
• Involves all individuals and family members in the process of treatment planning and ensures that plans are agreed upon, by signature, on a quarterly basis.
• Actively participates in the treatment and disposition planning for all assigned hospitalized individuals.
• Develops and maintains relationships with area substance use treatment programs, human service agencies, courts, shelters, and other housing agencies.
• Provides consultation to agency staff across programs as well as to Leadership regarding assessment, treatment and service delivery designed to implement with the dual-diagnosis population.
• Serves on committees and becomes involved in task force assignments to help share and improve service delivery at BMSC.
• Attends all mandatory trainings as scheduled.
• Maintains all health records and databases for individuals served.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to age related and cultural needs of the individuals served.
• Employee is professional, courteous, and respectful in dealing with individuals, families, co-workers and other service providers.
• Demonstrates compliance with the Social Work code of ethics and discipline requirements necessary for license currency, including supervision.
• Performs other related duties as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with dual diagnosis / substance use populations.
• Experience utilizing substance use specific modalities in treatment including but not limited to: harm reduction, relapse prevention, behavioral modification, CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing.
• Experience with creating and facilitating groups.
• LADC-I/LADC-II and/or CADC preferred.
• Bi-lingual preferred.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE:
At least two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience as a clinical social worker after earning a Master's degree in social work.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
- A Doctorate in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, counseling education, or human services may be substituted for the required experience on the basis of two years of education for one year of experience.
- One year of education equals 30 semester hours. Education toward a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
A Master's or higher degree in social work is required.
LICENSES:
- Licensure as a Licensed Certified Social Worker or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Social Work is required.
- Based on assignment, travel may be required. Those employees who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's license or the equivalent from another state.
