Overview:

The Cyber Range Manager is responsible for the technical and business operations of the Salem State University Cyber Range, located on the Harrington Campus of Salem State University in Salem, MA. The Cyber Range Manager is responsible for overseeing cyber range activities, including planning training exercises, establishing relationships, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring the efficient operation of technical infrastructure and resources. The role involves managing customer relationships, developing revenue-generating programs, and implementing a strategic plan to optimize the cyber range's impact. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cybersecurity, experience managing technical teams, and a passion for cybersecurity training and development.

In partnership with CyberTrust Massachusetts and the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, the Salem State University Cyber Range provides a cutting-edge cybersecurity training lab that offers a wide range of real-world simulations to prepare users with the knowledge and skills they need to prevent and respond to a variety of cyberattacks. The Salem State University Cyber Range will be used as a cybersecurity learning lab for students in our Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Business, and Health Care Studies programs, as well as work with external partners on workforce training and cybersecurity upskilling in this facility, strengthening cybersecurity throughout the North Shore region.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in cybersecurity or as an information technology professional.
  • Minimum 3 years experience managing technical teams.
  • Experience with networking and system administration.
  • Experience building and maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Experience with and ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of standards and practices related to information security, including state and federal regulatory requirements related to HIPAA, FERPA, PCI, and risk management.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with underserved students.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or CompTIA Security.
  • Experience working in a cyber Security Operations Center (SOC).
  • Experience with cyber range or training program development and management.
  • Budget planning and administration.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Working Location

    This is an on-site, in-person position in Salem, MA with some on-campus, in-person responsibilities.
