The Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs is seeking candidates for the position of Climate Adaptation & Resilience Intern.
ResilientMass is currently seeking qualified candidates for a contract employment opportunity as a Climate Adaptation & Resilience Intern. This fellowship will provide professional work experience for graduate level students, recent graduates, or others seeking to gain first-hand exposure to different aspects of climate resilience work that is currently conducted by EEA's Climate Team. The fellowship will run from approximately February through August, though it has the potential to be extended past this time. The Fellow will work directly with the Assistant Secretary for Resilience and other members of EEA's Climate Team and the ResilientMass Action Team (RMAT)-especially the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency co-lead-to support several exciting new initiatives and other items as they arise.
The Fellow may assist staff in the following areas: Assisting with implementation of findings of the ResilientMass Funding and Finance Investment Strategy initiative; Developing content related to the 2023 ResilientMass Plan, including material for resilient.mass.gov; Supporting implementation of a project to track metrics to measure the impact of ResilientMass initiatives, including funded projects; Supporting the Assistant Secretary and RMAT co-lead from MEMA with managing ResilientMass implementation in a manner that prioritizes actions in the 2023 ResilientMass Plan; Updating presentations with current information; Drafting memos and emails, attending meetings with or as a representative of the Assistant Secretary, taking meeting minutes, and related tasks; Additional relevant work assignments
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
- Strong project management and teamwork skills-ability to take a project concept and seek out the answers and resources needed to run with it (with guidance and support).
- Interest in and understanding of concepts related to climate change adaptation and resilience; Dedication to principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion-and applying these principles to government advancement of climate solutions in partnership with communities.
- Interest in the role of government to lead, innovate, and support around climate adaptation and resilience action; Ability to collaborate effectively with a range of internal and external colleagues.
- Strong writing and research skills with a high level of attention to detail.
