Job Description
The Assistant Unit Director, in conjunction with the Unit Director, is responsible for all aspects of the resident's lives including but not limited to healthcare, activities of daily living, programmatic services, leisure and recreational services as well as full compliance with Title XIX standards. In addition, this position participates in the development and implementation of facility policies and procedures.
The Assistant Unit Director provides ongoing administrative oversight for all aspects of residential and programmatic services can be challenging. Works closely with Labor Management and Human Resources on issues such as transfers, leaves, industrial accidents, and disciplinary hearings can be a challenge due to the increased number of approved FMLA and IA's. Measures the progress of programs and approaches in meeting service provision and operational system goals and works under significant time pressures to meet unanticipated demands.

- Knowledge of DDS Regulations, Policies and Practices and service delivery systems.
- Knowledge of Title XIX regulations and program requirements.
- Knowledge of the philosophy and programs of the Department of Developmental Services.
- Knowledge of service provision, program monitoring, and accountability processes.
- Knowledge of the issues related to individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities.
- Knowledge of HR principles and practices.
- Knowledge of mandated training requirements.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
B. Experience Necessary

- Experience managing and supervising within a unionized workforce.

- Experience in the planning and facilitation of facility consolidation and closure, and related issues.
- Experience managing staffing and personnel, including hiring, labor relations issues, overtime management, etc.
- Experience in budget management

ALL EMPLOYEES ARE PAID ON A BI-WEEKLY BASIS AND MUST HAVE DIRECT DEPOSIT. Listed salary ranges are for one full year at current rates.
Qualifications
MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have at least (A) four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time, professional, professional internship, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration or clinical management or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below.
Substitutions:
I. A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
II. An Associate's degree in a related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
III. A Bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience.
IV. A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the required experience.
V. A Doctorate degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience.
Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate's years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division's Hiring Guidelines. For all bargaining unit positions (non-management), compensation is subject to the salary provisions outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement and will apply to placement within the appropriate salary range.
