Job Description
Under the leadership of the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPSS), the Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC), in conjunction with the Department of Fire Services (DFS), the Department of State Police, and other key stakeholders, are assisting our communities to deliver the Active Attack Integrated Response (AAIR) program to the communities we serve. This Integrated Response training is consistent with NFPA3000 and is based on four main concepts: Integrated Response, Unified Command, Whole Community and Planned Recovery. This training is in partnership with the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) Center at Texas State University (https://alerrt.org).
DFS is currently looking to expand our instructor pool to accommodate the needs of the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy (MFA) Active Attack Integrated Response (AAIR) Program. The ideal candidate will be able to work flexible hours and be willing to travel to deliver the AAIR program across the Commonwealth.

In order to be considered for instructor candidate, you must upload your resume; and proof of Firefighter I/II; Fire Instructor I; and successful completion of Active Attack Integrated Response (AAIR) Train-the-Trainer 5-day program as relevant to your submission.
This is a part-time contract position, with no benefits.
Duties include:
• Works under the direction of an assigned lead instructor / coordinator
• May assist the instructor in classroom setup (including audio / visual materials)
• Delivers program material (PowerPoint lecture / practical skills stations) from a prepared lesson plan
• Observes participant skills development and conducts scenario debriefings
• Conducts skills demonstrations
• Works in conjunction with law enforcement partners to deliver assigned program content
• Complete the assigned 36-hour audit process within the AAIR Program
• Completes mandatory Commonwealth employee on-line training by required deadlines
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
1. A minimum of five years of relevant fire service experience such as a firefighter, fire/EMS, fire officer, fire investigator, or fire prevention position with a fire department.
2. Must be an active or retired member of the fire service.
3. Must be a Massachusetts and/or certified Firefighter I/II with the National Professional Qualification Board or the International Fire Service Accreditation Council.
4. Must be a Massachusetts or certified Fire Instructor I with the National Professional Qualification Board, the International Fire Service Accreditation Council, or Department of Defense.
5. Must successfully complete a Massachusetts Firefighting Academy instructor methodology course. A teaching certificate or certificate of completion from another instructor methodology program may be accepted in lieu of the instructor methodology course pending review of curriculum.
6. Must have superior communication skills
7. Must have the ability to work under direct supervision
8. Must be a good listener.

Successful completion of Active Attack Integrated Response (AAIR) Train-the-Trainer 5-day program.
