Develop and own the strategy to build out the distribution system using CYME, GIS, and demand forecasting tools. Participate in the development of geo-referenced load forecasts using LoadSEER or similar tools to support probabilistic load modeling efforts at the distribution level.

Lead distribution system analysis including seasonal assessments analyzing voltage, thermal, and N-1 contingency reviews using the CYME software and available data sets. Perform power flow analysis and/or capacity reviews to identify potential system needs relative to distribution criteria and define mitigation projects for short-, mid-, and long-term system planning.

Conduct other system analysis studies as the need arises to improve system efficiency, system reliability and quality of service to customers. Studies may include but are not limited to transformer loading, volt-var optimization leveraging capacitors and regulators, short circuit analysis, recloser placement optimization, and load balance evaluation..

Develop and prepare project documentation (i.e., need statement, potential solution, one-line diagram, etc.) using the results from system analysis to develop the short-, mid-, and long-term system plans. Future plans will be entered in Copper-leaf for capital planning.

Analyze and assess sophisticated DER distribution system interconnections. Perform DER hosting capacity analysis, time-series power flow analysis, protection device coordination studies, transient switching analysis, etc. using CYME and PSCAD depending on the sizes and devices of the associated interconnecting DERs.

Own the development and maintenance of DER interconnection portal, which is an information hub and process dashboard for DER interconnection requests and data. Provide engineering reviews of various DER interconnection applications and properly communicate the suggestions to upper management.

Coordinate distribution project development and integration activities with the Transmission Planning, Performance & Reliability, Investment & Project Planning, Standards, Engineering, Field Operations, System Operations, and Customer Service.

Develop training materials for software applications and onboarding for Distribution modeling and analysis functions.

Meet with internal and external customers to discuss short-, mid-, and long-term distribution system plans.
