As a Staff Engineer in the Industrial & Medical Sensors team, you will focus on developing high-quality magnetic sensors (MR-based) for industrial and medical applications. You'll lead the design, development, and validation of sensor products, working on areas like magnetic design, electrical hardware design, and calibration. You'll collaborate with different teams (like sales, product management, and system architects) and support junior engineers to build capabilities within the team

Responsibilities
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with sales, system architecture, and product management teams to develop applications based on customer needs and translate these into detailed technical specifications.
- Customer Engagement: Interface with customers to discuss technical requirements and provide updates on design progress and validation results, fostering strong technical relationships.
- Sensor Design and Validation: Design and validate electronics for Position xMR encoders aimed at global markets, focusing on optimizing product performance and addressing technical challenges.
- Mentorship: Share knowledge and mentor junior engineers to build their technical capabilities and promote continuous learning within the team.
- Technology Evaluation: Monitor application and technology trends, identifying and assessing new technologies for potential implementation in sensor designs.
- Project Support: Participate in design reviews and core team meetings to support project execution, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
- Prototype Testing: Conduct simulations and prototype testing to verify that technologies meet expected performance and functional requirements.
- Technical Leadership: Lead the development of sensor products by collaborating with project management and cross-functional teams, ensuring successful product delivery.
- Manufacturing Oversight: Oversee component sourcing and product manufacturing processes, managing relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Testing and Validation: Develop and manage test plans for product validation at all stages, ensuring rigorous execution and analysis of test data.
- Risk Management: Identify project risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring timely execution of project deliverables.
- Continuous Improvement: Assess processes to identify areas for improvement, driving a culture of continuous enhancement within the engineering team.
What your background should look like:
- Bachelor's Degree in technical discipline (Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Integrated Circuit Design, Physics)
- 12+ years of technical experience including full lifecycle developments (initial research & development though series launch) with electronics, integrated circuits, and release of Position Sensor products/Platforms.
- Experience in all aspects of the design, development, and deployment of Position sensors with ICs and Mixed Signal ASICs for Industrial and Medical Applications. Must include System Specification, Architectural Design, Analog & Digital Design, Calibration Configuration & Algorithms, Functional Verification, Circuit Design & Synthesis, Mixed-Signal Verification, Physical Design, Physical Verification & Signoff, Fabrication, Packaging & Test, Qualification & Release.
- In-depth knowledge and expertise with EMC and Hazloc product Standards, IECEx, ATEX, NEC, CCC. FIT analysis and ASIC architectures (hardware and software) to meet application requirements.
- Experience with supplier management and collaborating with technical partners such as Mixed Signal ASIC design/foundry partners, conducting regular design reviews, process & product audits, quality reviews, etc.
- Comprehensive technical understanding of Position sensors various core sensing technologies (i.e. AMR, GMR, TMR, Hall Effect, Eddy Current etc.), signal conditioning ASICs, calibration and compensation methods, reliability testing methods
- Experience in working with global technology and product development teams in a crossfunctional, multi-site environment to deliver projects with multiple dependencies and constraints
- Exceptional fluency in English
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with leadership, stakeholders, cross functional teams (engineering, product management, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, finance, sales) and subject matter experts.
- Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with a hands-on practical approach and ability to make decisions when presented with a series of challenges, conflicts and constraints
- Ability to drive to big picture goals and milestones while valuing and maintaining strong attention to the details
- Willingness to travel as required, ~25%
