Job Overview

Sr Manager, Global Market Research for the TE Connected Living Solutions Business Unit will support the development and deployment of Growth Initiatives leveraging strong market research, strategic marketing, and agile project management development skillset.

She/he will be focused on screening, evaluation, and development of market opportunities for the business to inform "where to play" and "how to win" choices for the business and drive growth. This will include market sizing, determining market attractiveness, evaluating demand outlook for products, collaborating with internal stakeholders and using secondary as well as primary research methodologies as required. This role will act as a player-coach, helping to build and manage market research process, standard work, and methodology for delivering on desired business objectives.

This role will be a part of the Connected Living Solutions Global Marketing & BD function in a business unit focused on attractive end markets of Appliances, Lighting, HVAC, Home Energy, Building Technologies, Smart Cities.

Desired Skills and Capabilities:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or above
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Strategic Marketing, Business Strategy, Product Management, or Market Research
  • Direct experience leading large scale, global projects supporting growth of B2B products or services.
  • Experience in executing primary research projects
  • Familiarity with Tableau, Wave, data and analytics, and project management tools.
  • Highly analytical strategic thinker with solid problem-identification and solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented, committed to accuracy and outcome, communicates complex ideas concisely.
  • Self-motivated, ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly driven self-starter, dynamic, action oriented, intellectually curios
  • Proven ability to manage across functions particularly where resources do not report directly to the role

Location: US remote, no relocation, must be located in the US Eastern or Central Time Zone.
Travel: 10%

What your background should look like:

Market Research:

  • Screens, evaluates, and develops analysis of market opportunities in support of informing 'where to play' and 'how to win' choices for the business unit
  • Designs and executes research, analysis of opportunities (e.g., markets, customer segments, customer needs, products, geographies etc.) in support of growth objectives
  • Executes Voice of the Customer (VoC) research which may span qualitative research such as in-depth interviews, focus groups, etc. or quantitative research such surveys conducted in person, electronically, via video, phone, etc. and could be executed internally or externally via support of third parties.
  • Acquires market insights from secondary research sources, such as commercially available reports, as well as industry associations, thought leaders, expert interviews, external and internal stakeholders.
  • Develops market analysis synthesizing information available from primary and secondary research, internal and external sources.
  • Builds a view of total available market vs served market (using defined set of market participation, competitive, regional, and product assumptions), applications, and sub-applications as it relates to the end-use of the product, competitive landscape, regional landscape, target customers, and other insight which related to market participation.
  • Identifies opportunities for growth based on market size, product, competitors, regions and other criteria informing the choice of what constitutes an attractive space to participate in.
  • Collaborates with BD teams to build assumption for end-use applications, participates in equipment tear-downs, and leads the cross-functional teams in deriving actionable insights.
  • Delivers concise, crisp, and actionable insights to cross-functional stakeholders including marketing, product management, sales, technology, and other as required.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to define, refine, and execute on deliverables
  • Analyzes data, synthesizes findings, and develops recommendations of opportunities for growth based on predefined success criteria
  • Builds an understanding of the 'big picture', uncovers customer needs, and translates them into opportunities to grow revenue
  • Develops standard work to drive repeatable outcomes and execution velocity
  • Manages external vendor relationships as they relate to the scope of the research objectives
  • Leverages tools and technology - data/analytics, and project management tools

Project Management:

  • Translate project requirements into clear execution plans
  • Systematically drive desired outcomes via right level of project design, execution milestones, time, and budget management.
  • Leverages agile methodology to improve speed and velocity of execution

COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $150,000 - 225,000 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
