Job Overview

TE Connectivity's R&D/Product Development Materials Engineering Team develops and sustains highly formulated polymeric compounds for the Energy Division. The R&D/Product Development Technician will work closely with Materials Engineers to develop, process and test thermoplastic, silicone and EPDM materials for energy products. There will be many opportunities for learning, development and professional growth in this role which is essential for the successful development of new materials, the testing of existing commercial products and the support of business priority projects.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work closely with R&D materials engineers to develop polymeric materials for the global Energy market
  • Fabricate test samples using mixing, milling, extrusion and molding equipment
  • Perform mechanical, electrical, thermal and chemical tests following internal and external test methods
  • Develop test procedures and document results in lab notebooks and digital databases
  • Analyse and report data to the engineering team
  • Detect errors in the lab environment and collaborate with lab managers to fix
  • Stewardship of assigned lab space and equipment including continuous improvement implementation
  • Support varying business priority requests with speed and flexibility
  • Work with team members to complete assignments

What your background should look like:

  • UK Level 3 qualification or local equivalent required
  • 3+ years of relevant experience desired
  • Science / engineering qualifications desired
  • Experience with thermoplastic / rubber mixing, and thermal, mechanical, and electrical testing preferred
