Job Overview

TE Connectivity's R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

Performance of material tests and reporting

Area of application: Components and products of cable connection systems

- Testing of material properties (thermoplastics, silicone, rubber, composites) for new developments and modifications
- Qualification and requalification
- Carrying out measurement orders according to internal and/or customer requirements
- Assistance in determining the cause of material failure
- Collaboration in the updating of test specifications

- Preparation of tests based on specifications and technical requirements
- Independent planning of the timing of the tests
- Sample preparation and test execution
- Reporting

What your background should look like:

- Manual skills in setting up and modifying examination apparatus
- Good knowledge of the electrical, physical and chemical
and chemical properties of plastics, their analysis and characterization (e.g. DSC, TGA, FTIR, rheology, tensile/break elongation, artificial aging)
- Knowledge of compounding and further processing (e.g. extrusion, injection molding) of thermoplastics, silicones and rubber
- Creation and review of work instructions
- Safety awareness
- High degree of initiative, self-organization, resilience and flexibility
- Good written and spoken German and English skills
- Enjoy working with colleagues from a wide range of specialist areas in an international environment
- Willingness to familiarize yourself with complex internal processes
- Ability to communicate complex issues in a generally understandable way
- Support in the implementation and realization of laboratory safety-related topics
