TE Connectivity is looking for an R&D / Product Development Engineer for its Transportation Sensors Engineering Organization. This position reports to the Engineering Manager in charge of Winston Salem North Carolina R&D and Product Development for Transportation Sensors.

The R&D / Product Development Engineer will work closely with the product development engineers from the Global Engineering Team to ensure the design has met the customer's requirements, internal requirements, and safety requirements.

The ideal candidate would have a working knowledge of sensors product development in rotary and position sensors, with experience developing and launching products for the automotive industry.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Design ownership and Product Development activities to enable new business opportunities and execute new product introduction for rotary and position sensors.

2. Responsible for the design of components and assemblies for rotary and position sensors using Creo, Central Parts Registry, and PDM Link as PLM.

3. Develop internal and external test lab procedures and fixtures to support specific electronic and mechanical functionality.

4. Liaison with Verification/Validation Test Lab, Metrology Lab, Failure Analysis and Reliability Lab to support NPI and Sustaining projects.

5. Must be a hands-on person, such as, building A-sample and testing prototypes, measuring prototype parts to verify dimensional and functional conformance to specifications and write test requests understanding what requirements are being verified by the test and understating the test results.

6. Develop the Reliability, DV and PV test planning and recommendations for new products in development and sustaining projects.

7. Support, document, and ensure the timely release of the functional safety analysis, DFMEA, internal & external requirements [Product Requirements Document (PRD)], and lessons learned for each of the gates in the Phase Gate process.

8. Support Concurrent Engineering with the Process Development Engineer, Advanced Quality Engineer, Supplier Quality Engineer, Program Management and Project Management Teams.

9. Works with Process Engineering to drive the B- and C-sample builds, the debugging of tools (dimensional) and/or equipment until final release.

10. Manage internal and external suppliers' communication during quoting, design, build, and release phase of component releases.

11. This position's responsibilities also include supporting VA/VE (Value Analysis / Value Engineering) cost saving initiatives throughout each of our product's life cycle.

12. Conduct analysis of faulty parts to find the failure's root cause and suggest potential corrective actions

What your background should look like:

1. Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a technical discipline (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Material Science, Physics)

2. 1 to 3 years of sensors automotive and/or electronic, electromechanical, mechatronic, mechanical products - design engineering experience

3. Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions when presented with a series of challenges, ambiguous and vague requirements, conflicts, and constraints

4. Outstanding ability to work in teams, focused on time, cost and quality commitments, with a goal-oriented way of working and data driven decision approach

5. Skills to balance priorities between multiple projects

6. Proficient in using MS applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Project) and Statistical tools such as Minitab

7. Experience with CREO 3D modeling and 2D drafting, use ASME 14.5 GD&T, as well as PLM of your work product in PDMLink

8. Exceptional fluency in English

9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with stakeholders, cross functional teams (engineering, product management, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, finance, sales) and subject matter experts

10. Willingness to travel as needed, up to 15%

COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $84,640-$126,960 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
