JOB DESCRIPTION:

TE Connectivity is looking for an experienced and dynamic Engineering leader to join its Industrial & Medical Sensors (IMS) Engineering Organization as Engineering Manager of Bangalore Sensors Development Team.

The Bangalore Development Team Engineering Manager will be part of the Position Engineering team within TE IMS Sensors, based in Bangalore and functionally report to product line leader. Your mission will build and lead a high-performing team of engineers that will engage with Global and Regional Engineering Teams in various Centers of Expertise all around the world. The role will require extensive interaction with engineering leaders, product managers, project managers, customers, and supply partners.

We are looking for an experienced manager with international team working experience to lead the local R&D team, drive engineering excellence by institutionalizing DFSS methodologies, a structured and systematic approach, and Lean Product Development principles such as Front Loading, Risk Detection & Countermeasures and Set Based Concurrent Engineering ... all to ensure programs meet technical, performance & product cost requirements, are completed on time and within the project budget, meeting commitments and "First Time Right"! Major focus will be placed on Project Execution Excellence including Phase Gate Compliance, Project Execution Cycle Time Reduction and maximizing Engineering Efficiency and Productivity. You will work with international cross-functional teams on a daily basis. In this role, you should be able to work independently with little supervision. You should have excellent organization and problem-solving skills as well as practical experience in talent development, insight into technology trends and agile methodologies.

The ideal candidate would be a highly experienced Engineering Manager with exceptional knowledge of sensors and sensing technologies, with vast experience developing and successfully launching products into the Industrial and Medical industries.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Execute the vision and strategy for IMS Engineering organization in alignment with strategic business objectives
• Work with Sales, System Application/Architect, Product Management team for new application development, product/technology roadmap, product specification definition and new product promotion
• Partner with Regional Engineering and Technology Central Teams to support product development and drive significant business growth for Position Sensors product portfolios.
• Leverage a structured new product development process and stage gate frameworks to lead project activities from initial research & development throughout the entire project development lifecycle
Support PM to generate specific PRD
Platforming and customizing product for global market
Application development and concept definition
MR related product design from chip to 2nd level packaging for final product
Engineering sample build, DV and release
Support Operation for C-sample and PV
Product validation and release
• Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to team members creating a team mindset and culture that is aligned with TE core values.
• Closely work with global cross functional sensor development teams and project management to develop truly differentiated solutions and ensure flawless launches.
• Drive engineering efficiency, functional excellence, and productivity initiatives.
• Manage the approved engineering budget and monitor actual expenses to ensure budget compliance.
• Drive a DFSS culture, one of innovation, constant learning, and continuous improvement.
• Proactively communicate escalations around challenges, gaps, support required and resource needs to quickly address issues before they impede successful delivery of key programs
• Understand, track and articulate issues / risks / action items; work with responsible owners to address the items on a timely basis; update the appropriate stakeholders as needed
• Continuous risk assessment and problem resolution; apply change management, risk management and resource management best practices
• Constantly assess what is working, what is not working, identify areas for improvement and consistently drive continuous improvement.
• Support and maintain launched product technical issues upon request
• Foster innovation, collaboration and sustainability culture
• Design process optimization, AI tools implementation, efficiency improvement.

YOU MUST HAVE:

At least 10 years of professional experience in new product development with international team, and above 5 years of people management experience
Bachelor's Degree in technical discipline (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Material Science, Physics)
• Proven success in Engineering leadership and people leader with minimum 7 years in combined direct reporting or matrix reporting leadership. Experiences with but not limited to talent recruitment, lab setup, design process optimization, employee care, local Laws and regulations, and social responsibility.
Solid experience of new product development and introduction into the Industrial and Medical industry, all aspects from initial research & development, spec development, concept development, design, testing & validation, qualification and production release of Transportation products.
Strong business acumen relative to project business case development and market analysis, capital management, P&L, and budget management
Extensive experience in communication and problem solving with different international functional teams
Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills; Exceptional fluency in English
Ability to interact professionally with customers, sales, leadership, stakeholders, cross functional teams and internal and external technical and subject matter experts
Global mind-set - experience in a large multinational with demonstrated ability to work in a fasted paced, dynamic global environment interacting with product development teams in a cross-functional, multi-site environment to deliver projects with numerous dependencies and constraints.
Ability to lead engineering excellence in the framework of a PMO driven, projectized environment. Able to attract and motivate top technical talent and skilled in people development.
• Strong Design for Six Sigma methodology; DFSS, or Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
• Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions when presented with a series of challenges, conflicts and constraints
• Ability to drive to big picture goals and milestones while valuing and maintaining strong attention to the details
• Willingness to travel as required, up to ~10%-25%
