Job Overview

TE Connectivity's R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

Responsibilities

  • Testing Execution: Conduct functional, performance, and reliability tests on products as per established test procedures, ensuring thorough evaluation of sensor capabilities.
  • GR&R Assessments: Perform Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R) studies on test systems to verify reliability and ensure consistent data generation.
  • Test Plan Development: Develop detailed test plans and procedures based on specific requirements, ensuring alignment with project objectives and standards.
  • Equipment Proficiency: Operate essential test equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators, and environmental chambers.
  • SOP Development: Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to standardize testing processes and ensure compliance.
  • Test Setup Preparation: Prepare test setups, including soldering, wiring harness assembly, and integration of Devices Under Test (DUTs) into fixtures, following procedures and standards.
  • Safety and Organization: Ensure safety compliance and maintain a 5S environment in the lab to promote organized and efficient workflows.
  • Data Recording & Analysis: Record and analyze test results accurately, documenting any deviations or issues for future reference and troubleshooting.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with design engineers and cross-functional teams to resolve technical problems encountered during testing.
  • Calibration Compliance: Ensure all test equipment is calibrated and properly maintained for accurate test results.
  • Safety Protocol Adherence: Strictly follow safety protocols when performing tests and handling equipment to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Reporting & Communication: Provide clear and concise test outcome reports, participating in team meetings to discuss results and insights.
  • Quality & Regulatory Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements throughout the testing process to ensure product integrity.

What your background should look like:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline (Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Integrated Circuit Design, Physics, or equivalent)
  • 3-5 years of technical experience in functional and reliability testing
  • Exceptional fluency in English
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to travel as required (~10%)

  • Master's Degree (Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Integrated Circuit Design, Physics, Mechatronics)
  • Experience in Sensing Technology
  • Knowledge of Sensor Calibration and Testing
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification
  • Data analysis skills (e.g., Excel, Minitab)
  • Knowledge of Standards such as IATF 16949, EN 9100, ISO 9001, AEC-Q-100, ISO 26262, ISO 17025
