GTB is comprised of four business lines: Global Trade Finance (GTF), Corporate Cash Management (CCM), Financial Institutions (FI), and Export and Agency Finance (EAF).

Position Summary

TDS has embarked on a multi-year digital transformation and expansion of GTB's product suite to position TDS as a leading North American multi-currency treasury provider, enabling significant business growth across the franchise.

The GTB Product Management team executes across two distinct functional product areas, specifically maintaining and expanding an existing product stack of capabilities for continued adoption and growth, plus continuing to expand and mature the offering of solutions through the addition of new products and supportive services for our clients. This role will focus on launching and expanding the commercial card offering for the TDS GTB segment of the business.

The Commercial Card Product Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, launch, and ongoing management of the company's core Commercial Cards products, including defining product strategy, analyzing market trends, collaborating with internal teams to implement features, and monitoring performance to optimize profitability and customer satisfaction within the corporate spending segment.

The ideal candidate will have 8 to 10 years of experience in commercial card products with deep industry experience as a card and payment industry subject matter expert, coupled with treasury management payables and receivables expertise within corporate banking. The role is accountable for building the value proposition the business wants to achieve and identifying the investments and requirements needed to get there. This role is additionally responsible for formulating strategy, policy and overall direction of the identified product or suite of products portfolio.

Job Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibilities will include leading the reengineering of the Commercial Card Product to become an attractive offering to the most complex clients in the marketplace, through the generation of a roadmap to achieve that goal followed by its execution.
  • Oversees and ensures the clear and effective delivery of products and services to the clients
  • Participates in the day-to-day management of the product(s), identifying and implementing product features and enhancements, providing business case support of recommendations and assisting in the strategic development of new initiatives
  • Acts as Subject Matter Expert for product-related inquiries
  • Liaises with partners (i.e. Marketing, Commercial Bank Channel, Retail) to understand industry and customer trends; analyses challenges and identifies areas of opportunity through customer research, focus groups, and external secondary research; facilitates ideation sessions and builds necessary business cases for new product development, identifying solutions and building stronger plans for growth
  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with sales distribution, key internal stakeholders and/or external partners to ensure that customer needs are considered in strategic decisions and in the development of options, solutions and alternatives
  • Leads and facilitates problem solving sessions with partners and vendors
  • Owns product level roadmaps, working with a broad group of stakeholders including Business Line Product Leads, Technology, Change Delivery, and other TD stakeholders to support roadmap prioritization and delivery.
  • Agile Product Owner/Product Manager accountabilities with firm grasp of Agile concepts and execution: product vision, roadmap, story map, user personas, user stories, manage/prioritize backlog, user flows.
  • Gather and analyse market research, client feedback, and competitive intelligence to identify market opportunities.
  • Document product materials, user guides, and training materials (for both clients and internal staff) as applicable.
  • Engage with key corporate clients to gather feedback and address their specific requirements.
  • Manage risk mitigation strategies related to Commercial Cards Product usage.
  • Act as a change agent by educating team members on the benefits of commercial cards and driving the advancement of card adoption.
  • Designs end to end process for development, implementation, use, reporting and feedback on emerging products and segments
  • Understand all Legal, Regulatory, and Rules for relevant markets, ensuring product compliance with all relevant regulations and risk management policies. Work with internal Risk & Compliance partners to ensure product suite meets evolving regulatory, compliance, legal, and internal policy requirements.

Job Requirements

  • Experience in Commercial Card Project Management, and/or Financial Services Product Management
  • Previous Product experience required
  • Advanced knowledge of and ability to conduct product research, product analysis and development, forecasting, pricing, competitive intelligence
  • Knowledge of current and emerging competitor and market trends
  • Advanced ability to lead, plan, implement and evaluate program/project activities to ensure completion of product initiatives
  • Ability to forecast and contribute to strategic direction of the product management function and provide advice to senior leadership
  • Ability to establish goals and objectives that support the strategic plan
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering payments or card products, features and functionality in the US market on time and on budget.
  • Strong understanding of the Commercial Cards Product industry, including payment processing, credit risk management, and regulatory landscape.
  • Excellent working knowledge of treasury management concepts, products and services and principles as related to GTB products and services.
  • Strong understanding of technology trends and a desire to work closely with Technology Teams to execute on GTB strategy and develop client centric Payment and Treasury offerings.
  • Ability to translate and articulate requirements between stakeholders (business, operations, technology). Create and write business requirements, epics and user stories while sharing the context and rationalization from a business/customer point of view.
  • Client focused with ability to consult with clients and GTB partners regarding service preferences and client requested enhancements to deliver client centric solutions in a timely manner
  • Results oriented with ability to manage ambiguous or unclear situations.
  • Excellent organization and prioritization skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while setting realistic response expectations, delivering on time and with high-quality results.
  • Strong leadership, influencing, presentation, and communication skills with ability to effectively interact and communicate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

The Vice President, Global Transaction Banking, TDS will develop the product strategy and build out the value proposition for the Corporate Cash Management business across North America, maintaining and enhancing the Bank's profile and market share, acting as a catalyst and transformational change agent for the bank.

Depth & Scope:

  • Works closely with senior leaders in articulating the strategic vision for the business to define GTB's customer value proposition and corresponding product offering suite, setting us up to compete effectively against the established global financial institutions (FIs)
  • Stays up to date with the rapidly evolving payments and receivables market offerings including Fintech, Partners/Vendors and FIs. Understands changes across the payment landscape, from regional low value (ACH) to high value (Fedwire, CHIPS) and cross-border (SWIFT) payments, and other payment innovations (real-time payments, FedNow, ISO), uses this knowledge to identify where we can leverage solutions to creatively address a Corporate client's treasury needs
  • Have a good understanding of the regulatory and compliance landscape across North America, and able to break down complicated legal concepts to bring treasury solutions to our clients
  • Be the 'Voice of the Customer' by working with our clients to understand their needs and staying up to date on the latest changes in the treasury industry. Able to assess any potential impact on corporate treasury processes, and direct / influence how TD builds technology and processes to meet evolving expectations
  • Partners with the origination team to advise and support corporate treasury clients on their unique needs by bringing deep subject matter expertise in the cash management and payments space
  • Provides internal and client facing thought leadership in cash management and treasury innovations across the global industry, and producing relevant materials to support the origination team
  • Be an innovative product owner that adopts new ways of working to help our clients solve their complex challenges or improve our operating efficiency (e.g. streamlining businesses processes or adopting new tools and technology)
  • Develops eminence that fosters value-add conversations with our stakeholders (internal and external) and represents GTB at industry forums (e.g. AFP, SWIFT and the Fed)
  • Takes ownership and accountability for all related products and platforms, maintaining a client-first mindset that ensures all aspects of product development & strategy (e.g. design, delivery, client onboarding, etc.) are frictionless
  • Works with senior leaders across the organization to identify new opportunities and directly or indirectly manages the activities for multiple functions across the enterprise (e.g. project management, risk and compliance, legal, technology, operations, etc.)
  • May mentor and develop junior members

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree required
  • 10+ years relevant work experience
  • Recent role in cash management, payments or treasury
  • Experience with banking or payments/regulatory organizations, eg Federal Reserve
  • Strong leadership, persuasion, presentation and communication skills
  • Proactive, positive attitude with an insatiable desire to learn
  • Results oriented and comfortable dealing with ambiguous or uncertain situations
  • Capable of managing sophisticated relationships and recognizing broader opportunities that may involve more than one business or operating unit
  • Ability to perform detailed analysis and see the bigger picture, using empirical data to inform decision-making
  • Acts decisively while working effectively in teams
  • Experience in the following is considered a strong asset:
  • Client facing role in investment / corporate banking or comparable
  • Hands-on delivery experience at a financial institution, or technology equivalent
  • Demonstrable delivery credentials - prior experience on large-scale change initiatives
  • Wholesale banking or payment industry experience with knowledge of: SWIFT, ISO, XML, APIs and regulatory insight
  • Familiarity with Treasury Management Systems (TMS) and/or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as Kyriba, G-Treasury, SAP etc.
  • Working in a scrum/agile environment
  • Ability to travel 15% to 35% of the time
