Job Description:

The Vice President, Finance, supporting Canadian Personal Bank (CPB)reports to the Chief Financial Officer, Canadian Personal and Commercial Banking (P&C) and is responsible for leading a dedicated team in Finance professionals responsible for Finance measurement, analysis, and decision support.

Vice Presidents (VP) at TD Bank Financial Group are strategic, responsible, and accountable members of the Bank's leadership team. In all areas where the Vice President, Finance, Canadian Personal Bank is responsible for enterprise policy, the Vice President will establish, sustain, and monitor adherence to policy in accordance with TDBG standards and practices including ensuring that policies are implemented throughout the enterprise as applicable, policy adherence is monitored, and policies are reviewed and updated regularly.

The Vice President, Finance, Canadian Personal Bank leads a diverse team of professionals who support the development and achievement of the Canadian Personal Bank's financial results and provide proactive analysis and expertise regarding management reporting issues and opportunities.

The general accountabilities of this role include but are not limited to the following:

  • Support the development and achievement of Canadian Personal Bank financial objectives and proactively contribute to the direction of the overall function and the business through strategic partnerships and effective planning and forecasting activities, with an emphasis on value added analysis, interpretation & advice.
  • Serve as a key advisor to the Canadian Personal Bank Operating Committee (CPB OC), making tangible connections between the business operations and its financial performance.
  • Lead on the creation and continuous improvement of reporting on overall financial results for the Canadian Personal Bank and provide interpretation and advice through an understanding of key drivers of the business.
  • Lead on the creation and continuous improvement of performance metrics for the Canadian Personal Bank and ensure benchmark / industry / best practice information is incorporated into the advice provided to stakeholders.
  • Lead on the creation and continuous improvement of holistic partner reporting, supported by quality and value-added analysis, interpretation, and advice for the Canadian Personal Bank.
  • Provide financial leadership and expertise in the creation and ongoing reporting/analysis/monitoring of complex multi-year transformational business programs in the Canadian Personal Bank.
  • Provide expertise, guidance, insight, and advice to Business leaders / executives within the Canadian Personal Bank on the range of financial management issues encountered and provide recommendations that enhance economic value for the business.
  • Contribute as a key member of TDCT Finance Management Team (FMT) and the Canadian Personal Bank management team ensuring an integrated approach in the development of business strategies, monitoring of performance and the effective use of resources.
  • Lead positive relationships across Finance (TBSM, EDS, etc.) as well as Risk and partners such as marketing and technology.
  • Contribute to the Finance Blueprint as a key member of the finance executive team.
  • Lead the development / implementation of new financial / pricing models, operating service standards, balanced scorecard, methodologies, frameworks, and paradigms to support on-going reporting, audit and / or analysis for the business.
  • Provide objective analytical evaluation and sign-off on business cases (or funding envelopes) and follow up on links to objectives, subsequent forecasts, benchmarking, and best practices.
  • Leverage / access centers of expertise in the delivery of management reporting activities - analysis, trending, and forecasting.
  • Participate on internal / external committees (e.g., Basel Executive Steering Committee) as appropriate to provide advice to business / finance partners and/or represent business partner interests.
  • Structure, staff, develop and lead a high performing team of Finance professionals / experts capable of executing with excellence and fulfilling future talent requirements by providing ongoing learning and development opportunities and implementing effective coaching and performance management practices.
  • Promote and foster a positive working environment that encourages innovation, creativity, teamwork, and strong strategic partnerships with the business.

Specific Educational Requirements / Accreditations

  • CA/CMA/CGA/MBA/CFA

Other Qualifications / Skills / Experience

  • A finance executive / top level professional with broad range of financial management and advisory experience with extensive understanding of the business and key financial drivers
  • Possess advance level of expertise and financial acumen to provide insight on strategy development and be a strategic partner to the business on a broad range of financial matters.
  • Balanced approach, ability to stay resilient under pressure.
  • People leadership is key element to this role - both the ability to effectively work in teams across the bank with multiple stakeholders, influence and align others.
  • Proven ability to manage a diverse group of professionals is critical to success in this role.
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills to meet tight deadlines as well as flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Confident presentation and facilitation skills and strong interpersonal and leadership skills to facilitate working with business and senior management at all levels.
  • Excellent analytical skills in assessing finance / market and business issues and exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)
