Job Description:

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

TD Securities (TDS) Finance is responsible for developing and delivering financial strategy, information and management support on a segment-wide basis for TDS, consistent with TD's enterprise risk appetite.

Within Finance, the Product Control Team is responsible for providing overall end-to-end accountability for the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of optimized processes and controls for financial reporting. Product Control is the primary point of contact on P&L, Balance Sheet, Attribution, and Independent Pricing Verification & Valuation Adjustments reporting and initiatives, exercising an in depth understanding of the products, valuations, and risks of the Business. The Product Control team provides reporting, analysis, investigation, and commentary for a wide range of TD Securities business lines including equity derivatives, fixed income, credit derivatives, commodities, foreign exchange, and more.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities comprise of:

  • Timely completion of data mining, cleansing, and modeling of transactional and financial data from various data sources (i.e., Hyperion, Excel)
  • Creating best-in-class/compelling visualization of data, dashboards, tools and reports that supports the interpretation that drives key decisions for stakeholders
  • Evaluating existing templates and tools and participate in design, development and testing to enhance functionality and capabilities.
  • Ensuring and promoting various forms of documentation for the purpose of project documentation, training and change management
  • Completing other ad-hoc innovation and data governance projects
  • Sharing knowledge and ensure ongoing and timely communication with the team and management on the status of projects and relevant points of interest.
  • Contributing to a positive work environment that encourages development, productivity, professionalism and teamwork.
  • Prioritizing and manage own workload to deliver quality results and meet assigned timelines.
  • Supporting a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation, and teamwork; ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest.
  • Identifying and recommending opportunities to enhance productivity, effectiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Establishing effective relationships across multiple business and technology partners, program and project managers.
  • Participating in knowledge transfer within the team and business units.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Data, Business/Commerce or related field, with the intent of going returning to school
  • Extremely proactive self-starter that anticipates next tasks before it is assigned and ability to handle ambiguity
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within and across teams
  • Strong desire and curiosity to learn
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and maintain strong attention to detail.
  • Ability and tenacity to develop creative solutions to complex problems and the ability to think way outside-the-box
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel and Jupyter Notebooks
  • Understanding of data collection and analysis principles.

Skills that are not required but would be considered an asset:

  • Passion for data and technology
  • Knowledge of Tableau, Alteryx, SQL, Python, VBA
  • Knowledge of financial systems and processes
  • Knowledge of data governance principles

  • This position is a 4-month work term and will commence January 6, 2025 to April 25, 2025.
