Job Description Summary
As part of the AI Platform, within Data as a Service (DaaS), our passion is to advance AI capabilities and deliver AI-powered solutions to optimize processes, maximize productivity and increase value for our customers and colleagues. We are looking for a Sr. IT Manager with high technical and delivery acumen with a get stuff done attitude to work in this dynamic environment. The perfect candidate will have previous Data and AI experience, delivering enterprise data and AI solutions within a financial services context. You will work with top talent across TD from infrastructure engineering to AI scientists, collaborating through agile delivery. This role oversees a diverse team of AI specialists, utilizing resources from various functional or specialized technology areas to ensure end-to-end delivery, including design, development, testing, implementation, security, governance, and quality assurance of AI solutions or services, all within planned budgets and timelines.

Job Description

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

CUSTOMER

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end delivery of AI technology solutions or services for key business lines, portfolio, assigned segment, or enterprise area with a clear focus on strategic planning, schedule management, scope, change/issues management, client communication, and overall resourcing and financial costs on a long-term basis.
  • Oversee AI project delivery for the applications within their scope, commissioning projects to be executed by assigned Project Managers.
  • Act as an integrator of AI solutions; provide a flexible approach by offering and negotiating options with clients that ensure the appropriate balance between service levels, cost, and risk.
  • Communicate business vision/goals and portfolio priorities to team members (e.g., AI Application Owners/Development Managers, Business Systems Analysis, Platform/Service and/or Technology Project Managers, etc.).
  • Develop impact assessments related to LOB landscape changes/revisions/additions and manage the integrated AI portfolio delivery schedule; periodically perform risk assessments and manage operational processes consistently across the portfolio (e.g., time reporting).
  • Monitor and manage Capacity Forecasting process compliance among AI Technology Project Managers; report on progress, status, and overall health of the portfolio and individual applications.
  • Work closely with IT leadership to ensure ongoing focus on reusability, scalability, and enterprise-wide AI solutions to maximize returns on the suite of products.
  • Oversee and support the demand management process from intake through final approval and initiation of delivery execution with respective management teams/business partners/stakeholders.

SHAREHOLDER

  • Measure and monitor progress at clearly defined points in the process for all ongoing AI projects within the portfolio to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet or exceed expectations.
  • Assess work plans and schedule impacts across the AI portfolio; identify key schedule issues for reporting, escalating further as necessary.
  • Comply with well-defined enterprise technology delivery practices and standards and project management disciplines, including creation of project documentation of system requirements, estimates of scope and cost.
  • Track major project deliverables; communicate updates; support initiatives intended at reducing time-to-market and containing costs.
  • Ensure operational, reputational, and intellectual risks are understood; provide advice towards minimizing risk and escalate where appropriate.
  • Maintain proficient knowledge of the competition, customer/industry trends, and AI technology innovation; identify opportunities for research and suggest solutions as appropriate.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service and ensure commitments are met; recommend appropriate actions to enhance service levels through effective service level management practices/agreements.
  • Keep informed of AI technology solutions initiatives and IT direction across the organization to provide strong support to the businesses.
  • Ensure a full understanding of business requirements and apply knowledge to escalate/prioritize delivery of new and existing AI projects.
  • Ensure that new capabilities required by the business are supported by the current ecosystem

  • Establish effective relationships across multiple business and technology partners, program and project managers.

BREADTH & DEPTH

  • Support a significant business area, product group, enterprise platform, service, or capability under a Segment CIO or technology functional area.
  • Set work direction at an operational level, work autonomously in managing the unit, and collaborate with other business or technology leaders to establish and execute common goals with a medium to longer-term business perspective.
  • Possess expert knowledge of AI technology standards (e.g., infrastructure, architecture, processes, applications) from a strategic perspective and manage/direct teams and projects.
  • Stay informed about external competition, emerging industry and market trends related to AI technologies.
  • Serve in an integrator role overseeing various AI technology functions and resources to deliver business technical solutions or shared services.
  • Directly or indirectly oversee a sizeable and varied team of AI technology professionals (e.g., Application Developers, Solutions Designers, Business Systems Analysts, Data Scientists, and/or Project Managers) in the end-to-end delivery of complex AI projects, system enhancements/applications, and/or application or service management.
  • Direct and manage large-scale AI applications/projects across multiple product lines/businesses, involving significant scope and complexity.
  • Understand strategic direction (including financials) and champion alliances to benefit the organization; advocate for operational improvements to enhance the division's value to the organization.
  • This role typically reports to an executive position.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, with a focus on AI technology and project delivery.
  • Proven working experience and understanding of Azure Cloud Services
  • Background in Data Science, Machine Learning, Predictive and Generative AI.
  • MLOps Practices: Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, etc.).
  • Knowledge of data engineering and ETL processes.
  • Certification in cloud platforms
  • Prior experience in a similar role within the AI or tech industry.
