Department Overview:

The IDA Business is a U.S. Treasury function and manages the Schwab IDA arrangement on a stand-alone basis, working with 2nd line to identify, measure and manage risk. The role is a key contributor to developing reporting and analytics package for the IDA business and monitors its performance.

Job Description:

The Senior Finance IDA Deposits provides a range of strategic advice, analysis and to support the business. Proactively manages senior relationships in order to provide seasoned and deep business insights, decision support and guidance and works closely with various stakeholders and team members as required.

Depth & Scope:

  • Oversee and Lead management of IDA Deposits business while growing talent, developing skills and capabilities to achieve career goals, support project / initiative success and achieve business results
  • Provides coaching, mentorship and guidance to practitioners, business, executives within area of expertise
  • Manages and oversees the overall discipline and strategy for the respective areas while aligning to the enterprise best practices
  • Strategic partner to leadership team on the management of the portfolio and financials, with deep industry, external / internal, enterprise knowledge, recognizing and anticipating emerging trends and; identifying operational efficiencies and opportunities with other business management / enterprise areas
  • Facilitates key strategic discussions and provides thought leadership to executive audience (output include strategic roadmap and / or deliverables / frameworks / short to long term goals etc.)
  • Collaborate with others to execute on common goals
  • Focuses on longer term planning for the business

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • 10+ years of experience with Treasury experience preferred

Customer Accountabilities:

  • Lead the IDA Risk Management Reporting process and provide insight into managing the risk metrics within the established limits
  • Lead the IDA business stress testing and provide strategy to manage associated risks
  • Provides input to TBSM partners on the impact of IDA balances on hedging strategy considerations as necessary with strong understanding of product, asset and interest rate hedging and develops new modeling tools and techniques for evaluating interest rate risk and asset/liability mix related to the IDA
  • Monitors interest rate and liquidity risk related to the IDA as well as provides guidance on navigating regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to production of ALCO (and subcommittees) reporting packages
  • Provide analysis required on IDA related issues to Senior Management
  • Lead the IDA business forecast and planning process
  • Coordinates the response to Risk, Audit, and Regulators for IDA related issues
  • Interfaces with various internal partners in Finance, Product partners, Capital Management, Risk Management, Technology Support, Basel & Capital Management Project Management Office and TDBG Risk Capital Assessment departments to implement the data management; results measurement/aggregation; governance/control; and documentation processes as required
  • Acts as subject matter expert for own area and provide guidance / advice and recommendations to support dealings with internal / external partners
  • Participates on internal / external committees to provide advice / counsel to business / finance partners and represent the interests of the Bank

Shareholder Accountabilities:

  • Works with key business leaders to develop business plan, ensuring the optimal use of resources and leverage TD's operating model to maximize efficiency, effectiveness and scale
  • Plans and executes on strategic activities, reviews and communicates results, and adjusts tactics accordingly
  • Executes on the annual business plan to deliver results aligned with business strategies
  • Proactively identifies key business opportunities, researches and recommends enhancements / modifications to programs / processes / policies, develops strategies to achieve recommendations and works closely with team to execute and implement
  • Protects the interests of the organization - identifies and manages risks, and escalates non-standard, high risk transactions / activities as necessary
  • Keeps abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts
  • Ensures employees are knowledgeable; and assumes responsibility to minimize operational and regulatory risk by complying with Bank and industry Code of Conduct
  • Maintains a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite
