Job Description:

Department Overview

The Global Compliance Department is responsible for overseeing regulatory compliance across TD Bank Group (TDBG) in accordance with the Global Compliance Operating Framework. The team is accountable for promoting regulatory compliance by developing and maintaining compliance programs, including identifying and disseminating regulatory developments to businesses they support, maintaining Compliance policies, managing complaints and regulatory filings, providing relevant training, carrying out independent monitoring and oversight activities, reporting on the state of compliance to the Board, Ultimate Designate Person (UDP) and senior management, as needed, and providing advice and support, as required.

Team Overview

The Business Management & Governance team within Global Compliance provides business and financial insights, strategic planning, business management coordination, and facilitates One TD relationships across Global Compliance and Risk Management. The team plays a key role in the Global Compliance strategy development and implementing pan-Compliance initiatives through communications, data insights and executive reporting.

The Role & Key Accountabilities

Reporting to the AVP, Business Management & Governance, this role is pivotal in the development and execution of communications plans / programs / projects / strategies by designing and delivering communications consistent with TD's communications standards and strategies, and in support of business results. The successful candidate is comfortable interacting directly with an executive audience.

  • Develop communications to address enterprise/business needs/plans, in alignment with internal communications standards and/or goals, ensuring that strategies designed enhance TD's presence with key stakeholders, highlighting TD's brand, community ,and innovation initiatives
  • Own the delivery and management of programs/project plans by tracking workgroup projects, ensuring established processes are followed, and delivering all projects on strategy, on time, on budget and error free.
  • Own townhall logistics and compliance communication strategy for the Global Chief Compliance Officer.
  • Evaluate the impact of communications on the achievement of enterprise/business results, and ensure communications solutions/initiatives are strategically sound and consistent with TD's customer experience and brand image; ensure a high level of service by setting clear standards and continuously assess the effectiveness of programs, processes and documentation, and incorporate lessons learned into current and future projects/programs
  • Create cross-functional plans/projects/programs/initiatives; understand the enterprise/broader function's disciplines and how they link together to deliver integrated solutions
  • Develop and manage good working relationships and maintain open dialogue with key internal/ external business partners and stakeholders to ensure adequate execution of project deliverables
  • Create/manage the implementation of digital and social content strategy across multiple channels for the Global Chief Compliance Officer
  • Provide strategic media counsel support and acts as a bank spokesperson when appropriate.
  • Exercise judgment in dealing with sensitive reputational issues and provide counsel to executives
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of corporate communications processes/services and recommend/champion possible enhancements
  • As a recognized expert within own field of expertise, provide advice and guidance to employees and business partners on maintaining the brand standards, application and execution within area of expertise
  • Maintain an understanding of TD businesses and products, keep current with key business initiatives/issues/developments within TD, emerging strategies, capabilities and/or trends in the industry field of expertise to deliver effective communications solutions
  • Drive leading-edge use of visual media: video, photography, interactive digital features and infographics, to tell TD's stories in compelling, engaging and immediate ways

Job Requirements

This role requires an individual who can problem solve, show strong judgment to execute, drive positive change through critical thinking, innovation, and employee empowerment. Additionally, the successful candidate will be:

  • Knowledgeable in financial strategy and planning with hands-on experience preparing and presenting strategic updates for senior executives.
  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced, and sometimes ambiguous environment, while willing to voice an opinion and take a stand on critical issues
  • Able to independently manage deadlines and oversee deliverables while multitasking between projects.
  • Effective communicating clearly and concisely (written and verbally) to a broad audience, including senior executives.
  • Extremely comfortable reviewing large volumes of data for consistency and accuracy, as well as with various analytical approaches to prepare recommendations.
  • Advanced in Communication, PowerPoint and Excel skills.
