Team Overview

The Front Office Transparency team is responsible for the development and support of our strategic derivatives trading risk

platforms and applications for TD Securities. The Transparency applications utilize the latest technology and DevOps

approaches to deliver highly scalable technology solutions. The applications are used globally by Trading and enterprise risk

systems and are critical to TD Securities operations. This is a global team with engineers in Toronto, London, New York and

Singapore.

We use the following technology stack:

• Java 17/Scala

• React and AngularJS

• Solace, Hazelcast for streaming and distribution

• ZeroMQ and raw sockets for remoting

• Google Protocol Buffers/JSON for serialization

• Graphite and Grafana for metrics

• Linux

Job Description

Individual will assist for the commercial implementation of quantitative deliveries from the TDS QMA group to the

business users. Deliveries include new models, market data and other products. Individual will be expected to work in

partnership with users and across a wide range of teams including development, Trading, Market Risk, Finance and QA.

The individual will also assist for monitoring service, productivity and implement continuous performance improvements

where opportunities exist. Support production stability and facilitate remediation plans to address performance/risk

issues. Maintain thorough understanding of all key risk and risk-related issues through continual review of risk

reports/related data and dialogue with relevant parties.

The specific tasks will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Assist with development and testing of systematic backtesting/optimization engine.

• Investigating/applying cutting edge quantitative ideas to improve systematic trading signals.

• Maintenance and monitoring of daily operational tools for building daily signals.

• Supporting and facilitating the daily maintenance requirements in collaboration with other team members in order

to expedite and enhance the turnaround time on the requirements for the market strategy group

Skills & Requirements The ideal candidate has the following skills: Essentials: • Degree specializing in finance, risk management. Solid understanding of economic theory, principles and econometrics • 3+ years of relevant industry or risk management experience and/or accreditation. • Strong knowledge of interest rate derivatives (FRA/IRS/XCCY) • Knowledge in data processing techniques and their application to management control information systems. • Experience with Capital models and associated risk policies (IFI, LCT, GFX, GSTM, GLM) is preferred. • Familiar with source system (Murex, Calypso, TOMS & ION) • Familiar with risk and PNL reporting platforms. • Working knowledge of programming languages (Python, VBA, SQL, etc.) would an asset. • Problem solving and strong analytical / critical thinking skills + excellent communication skills. • Be ready to be a team player and want to make an impact to improve the efficiency of the team. • Good team player with excellent mathematical, verbal and written communication skills • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under strict deadlines. • CFA and/or FRM would be considered an asset. The IT Senior Developer TDS provides a broad range of system solutions development to business problems through the development and programming of applications / systems.

Depth & Scope:

  • Responsible for analyzing a broad range of business requirements, conducting program / system research and analysis to identify key components for solutions delivery and problem resolution
  • Develops new applications and performs unit / component test for new application development initiatives aligned to business needs and in accordance with technology architecture standards
  • Ensures effective communication of solutions development requirements for respective area and contributes to project plans, estimations, timelines and status updates to support management team / clients on prioritizing new and existing projects against IT requirements and business objectives
  • Informs key stakeholders of any issues that may impact other areas of the project and resolves or escalates issues as required
  • Supports business inquiries and business activities through execution of small enhancements and break / fix implementations (e.g. source code changes)
  • Works with Business Analysts / Systems Analysts, other technology Developers / Solution Designers to ensure the configuration and custom components meet application requirements and performance goals
  • Creates and maintains quality code, ensures defect free programming consistent with standards; provides code maintenance and supports during testing cycles and post-production deployment and participate in reviewing peer coding
  • Adheres to standard security coding practices to ensure application is free of most common coding vulnerabilities
  • Participates in identifying and recommending development / testing solutions / tools in support of project / application objectives
  • Completes unit and integration testing for conformance to standards and adherence to design specifications
  • Complies with well-defined enterprise technology delivery practices and standards and project management disciplines by participating in scope assessment, risk and cost analysis
  • Assists in the development / maintenance of comprehensive processes for prevention of issues and participate in problem determination and timely resolution of incidents applying appropriate quality measures
  • Perform Systems Administration of applications / environments supported by the LOB, monitors application / service performance, and performs configuration, backup, authentication & tuning
  • Ensure both state-of-health monitoring and monthly SLA targets are in place, and are being met
  • Provides technical expertise during Incident management, analyzes incident reports and outages, performs impact assessment for incidents and facilitates internal and external communication throughout incident resolution
  • Continuously enhances knowledge / expertise in area and keeps current with leading-edge technologies, emerging trends/developments and grows knowledge of the business, applications, infrastructure, analytical tools and techniques
  • Prioritizes and manages own workload in order to deliver quality results and meet timelines as assigned
  • Supports a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork and ensures timely communication of issues/ points of interest
  • Identifies and recommends opportunities to enhance productivity, effectiveness and operational efficiency of the business unit and/or team
