Job Description:
Summary
Reporting to the Business Application Manager, the Senior Business Application Analyst's duties will include operational and application support of Data as a Service - DaaS' growing suite of BI & Reporting applications. The role will be responsible for leading specialized business application management activities while supporting the Enterprise.
Some tasks include, requirements gathering through the application lifecycle, creating and supporting business process documentation, business testing and user support of the application.
This role requires an individual with a high degree of personal initiative and strong communication, problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong interpersonal skills will be required to interact effectively with a variety of stakeholders and partners including Technology, Data Governance and Control Partners and Audit.
Key Areas of Responsibility include:
Business Application Support
- Business Process Management - Accountable for creating, monitoring and managing business processes and documentation that adhere to governance and controls. Suggest and implement operational and business process improvements that look to maximize efficiencies and leverage synergies.
- Project Delivery - Gather and review requirements specifications while providing timely and meaningful feedback.
- Change Management - Activities range from change management/delivery support, communication support and Business Acceptance Testing (BAT) facilitation and documentation while ensuring changes meet stakeholder and data governance requirements.
- Application Availability, Usability & Adoption - Establish and oversee adherence to SLAs, issue management, issue communication, stakeholder management, customer support and promoting adoption.
- Business Governance & Controls - Participate in risk and audit assessments and ensure appropriate risk controls are in place, are executed effectively and accountable to adhere to guidelines and regulatory requirements under Privacy, Audit, Legal, and Compliance.
- Stakeholder Management - Coordinate with key leaders to determine required capabilities and promote usage of application capabilities. Keep management and stakeholders informed about status updates/issues/points of interest through timely, clear, concise and effective communication.
Operational Effectiveness & Team Collaboration
- Business Operations Support - coordinate operational (day-to-day) activities such as process management, user ad-hoc support, documentation maintenance, access management, operational reporting, issue management, escalation support and business acceptance testing.
- Team Participation - Demonstrate ability to build relationships within the team and with key stakeholders. Participate in a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, innovation and teamwork by assisting others with completion of work activities; provide training/guidance as appropriate.
Governance & Oversight
- Participate in intake process, project delivery support, business-owned artifact delivery, governance, change management, testing/validation, and reporting.
- Identify and escalate perceived risks to delivery lead and business owner. Recommend, support and/or implement solutions that mitigate risk and maximizes the availability of service, efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure ongoing adherence or alignment with Agile/NEW methodology.
Job Requirements
- Undergraduate degree or technical certificate
- 5+ years of relevant experience.
- 1-2 years of experience in basic Power BI development (Desktop and Premium Capacity)
- Tableau experience is an asset
- Experience working directly with data and the underlying usage. Microsoft Azure experience is a benefit.
- Working knowledge of Agile (SCRUM or KANBAN) methodology is an asset.
- Some knowledge of SQL, Python, Excel is an asset.
- Knowledge of data policy and governance principles
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form and bridge the gap between business users and their technical requirements.
- High degree of multitasking and/or prioritization may be required.
- Ability to facilitate details and manage multiple customers/LOB's at the same time.
