As an Associate in Equity Research, you will have an opportunity to work directly with an equity analyst on the daily publication of company and industry research reports. This position has a primary focus on the Real Estate / REITs sector. You will hone research skills, gain detailed understanding of the sectors covered and obtain insight into the institutional equity business.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with an analyst to develop an idea oriented research product
  • Assist in the preparation of company and industry research reports (e.g. quarterly reporting initiatives, initiating coverage reports and marketing packages)
  • Assist in the preparation of financial models to forecast quarterly and annual earnings, including maintaining and enhancing financial models and databases
  • Interact with our Institutional Sales & Trading desk
  • Compile and evaluate company and industry data
  • Assist in the development of valuation tools

Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently under strict deadlines, with an attention to detail and output orientation
  • Ability to research a topic from the ground up
  • Strong work ethic, ability to take initiative and balance multiple tasks
  • Superior business writing skills, presentation skills and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent spreadsheet, quantitative and financial analysis skills
  • Demonstrated interest in capital markets
  • Service orientation and professional attitude - presentable to both internal and external clients
  • Flexibility and ability to invest long hours as needed/required by business due to the nature of the role
  • Experience analyzing financial services companies would be an asset
  • Current or prior experience in research roles in front office capital markets space would be of great asset

Educational Assets

  • Strong preference for finance and business qualifications - must be comfortable working with financial statements
  • Undergraduate degree with a focus on business, finance or mathematics
  • Strong preference for CA/CPA or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designations
