Department Overview
The Wealth Investment Office (WIO) is TD Wealth's source for investment management strategy. We empower advisors and portfolio managers across TD Bank Group's Wealth Management division - including Financial Planning, Private Investment Advice and Private Investment Counsel - by giving them the knowledge and tools they need to execute an efficient and consistent approach to portfolio management. The group provides holistic investment advice, portfolio construction, and investment management strategy across a broad range of methodologies including traditional, endowment and risk-aware allocations. WIO is the engine behind the TD Wealth's investment strategy process and allocations. WIO also manages the Risk Priority Portfolios and is the investment manager behind the TD Core Managed Equity Portfolios and the Guided Corporate Bond Portfolio. In addition, WIO plays a role in the education and ongoing support of TD Wealth advisors through numerous internal and client-facing publications, as well as conferences, presentations, seminars and one-on-one communications to advisors.

Position Overview

This is a priority position as the Portfolio Consultant will work with other WIO team members and partners in Practice Management, Product & Private Wealth Management to assist Financial Planners & advisors in transitioning to a more process driven and professional investment management business model by specifically coaching them on the components of portfolio construction & investment management techniques. Using the existing product shelf and recommended lists the Consultant will develop model portfolios, analyze the securities holdings of the identified advisors, develop talking points and action plans for the transition to modeled solutions and assist Practice Management and field management in guiding the advisor through the transition.

Position Summary
The successful candidate will:
• Understand the managed assets product spectrum
• Develop a deep understanding of the firm's fee-based and managed account platforms as well as the recommended managed products and portfolio solutions.
• Support WIO's delivery of managed investment solutions to TD Wealth's Canadian advisors.
• Provide portfolio construction guidance and support for advisors requiring customized solutions. There will also be a requirement to assist with Requests for Proposals and conduct portfolio reviews for advisors
• Interpret managed product research from TD's internal investment manager research group.
• Contribute to market-related publications and conference calls on a regular basis.
• Be the first responder to advisor managed investment inquiries and provide investment guidance and portfolio construction advice.
• Lead Book Review activities for the Financial Planning channel and provide back-up to the Manager, Portfolio Consultancy with regard to the Investment Advisor platform
• Source and analyze the holdings & portfolio construction techniques within individual planners/ advisor's book for the purpose of coaching and assisting advisors to transition to a more scalable and efficient portfolio construction methodology
• Educate advisors and Branch Managers & Senior Relationship Managers on developing, building and maintaining a scalable and efficient approach to investment management.
• Assist planners/advisors in aligning a well-documented investment philosophy, value proposition and discovery process with a prescribed portfolio construction methodology that can be deployed over the majority of their book of business

• Develop model portfolios for a variety of client risk profiles, circumstances and account sizes

Key accountabilities include:
• Develop a deep understanding of TD Wealth's fee-based and managed account platforms as well as the recommended portfolio solutions and products to support the delivery of these solutions to the advice channels
• Provide holistic investment management consultation to deliver and coach to a professional portfolio construction process and outcome
• Deliver managed investment guidance to TD Wealth's advice channels
• Prepare written reports for a number of market-related publications with varied frequency of distribution
• Contribute to a daily conference call highlighting relevant research and market-related news for the advisors
• Field and respond to advisor inquiries and requests for information regarding managed investments
• Participate in advisor training and branch presentations as required
• Support WIO initiatives that may not be directly related to managed investments
• Building a multi-factor holistic view of a planners/advisors book of business for the purpose of analyzing security positions, asset allocation and portfolio construction techniques.
• Based on this analysis build recommendations and possible solutions sets that can be adopted by the planner/advisor to transition their business to modeled solution set and lower overall product dispersion.
• Based on your recommendations educate & coach planners/advisors to;
• develop a deep understanding of TD Wealth's fee-based and managed account platforms and corresponding pricing methodologies and assist the planners/advisors in adopting newer technologies in building a more scalable practice
• build and integrate an investment philosophy into their value proposition,
• identify and transition to modeled solutions sets that can be deployed over the majority of the planners/advisors book.

Education/Accreditations:
• Undergraduate degree with a major/speciality in Business, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics
• Investment industry accreditation (e.g., CSC, CIM)
• Completion of or working towards completion of the CFA Institute's Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation

Other Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
• 3-5 years of experience in the financial services industry
• Strong knowledge of financial markets
• Strong understanding of managed products including mutual funds, ETFs, and SMAs
• Strong time management, prioritization and organizational skills are required to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills needed to effectively work with other members of the team and other areas of TD Wealth
• Excellent technical skills and a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office are required; strong Microsoft Excel skills are essential
• Analytic, technical and computational skills would be a bonus; VBA, Python, etc. basic data management
• Knowledge and understanding of Bloomberg and Morningstar is preferable
• Ability to work both independently and as a team player
• Outgoing individual who demonstrates keen initiative, flexibility and ability to react quickly to changing needs, positively rising to challenges presented
