Job Description:

The Business Management team within Corporate & Investment Banking is responsible for providing ongoing operational and strategic support, as well as supervisory oversight, to front-line Investment Bankers and Senior Executives within the department, such that their focus can remain on providing optimal client coverage and execution. The team liaises with various TDS and TDBFG support partners, including Finance, Compliance, Human Resources, Technology, and Premises, to advance the needs of the department as well as assist with rolling-out any firm or bank-wide initiatives.

Job Description:

We are looking for an Operations Analyst to join the Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) Business Management team based in New York City.

The Operations Analyst will be accountable for expense management, approvals, and analysis. The role will also encompass oversight of daily office operations and other administrative activities in support of the CIB department. The successful candidate will be required to maintain and update process and procedure documentation, bringing forth process improvements, and forming partnerships with support teams across TDS and TDBFG.

  • Maintain office policies and procedures and act as the SME for CIB Expense policies, which includes providing advice and guidance to bankers and administrative staff with respect to expense-related queries
  • Develop and maintain relationships with client-facing corporate & investment banking professionals, Finance support partners, and the TDS Finance Operations team
  • Extract and analyze expense data sets to support budgeting/planning activities
  • Refer or escalate processing or operational issues as needed based on a solid understanding of the issue, connecting with the appropriate function/partner to facilitate resolution and ensure that service quality is maintained
  • Support the team by actively building operations knowledge, think critically about processes and opportunities for improvement, and share ideas
  • Support employee onboarding and offboarding processes with respect to training, access requests, seating, etc.

The TDS Operations Analyst II will act as a cross functional process analyst, conduct research, analysis and reporting on a range of operational and service issues. Executes on critical projects and strategic special initiatives within a defined functional area that may require broader partnership across TDS and/or other TD enterprise functions. Enhances management decision making on policies, processes, products and services based on insights generated from analytics and reporting to advance the operating model / processes and elevate service quality. Facilitates the implementation of policies/processes and/or initiatives to meet functional objectives.

Depth & Scope:

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the operating environment, business process and procedures, and transaction lifecycle for own area (e.g., processing environment, applications, software, hardware, products)
  • Sound level knowledge with some form of related training and/or related experience or skills
  • Ability to execute on standard and non-standard processes and requests of low to medium complexity with moderate to high-risk/financial impact
  • Identifies key operational/ reporting/process issues for own area
  • Provides thorough analysis and/or specialized reporting or operational/process support
  • Requires general understanding of the overall function and/or businesses supported
  • Some complexity in operational/reporting/ process and/or analysis function generally requiring a short-term focus
  • May lead small scale initiatives or work stream packages for assigned area
  • Completes work within specifically defined parameters with guidance/ direction from management as necessary
  • May provide training to others on best practices, processes, etc. as well as guide junior staff for the completion of business as usual functions

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree/ college diploma
  • 3+ years relevant experience
  • Solid knowledge key functional areas
  • Knowledge of products traded
  • Knowledge of current and emerging competitor and market trends
  • Knowledge of risk management environment, standards and regulations
  • Knowledge of project/program support, planning and implementation
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in making decisions

Customer Accountabilities:

  • Executes more complex transactions and overrides accurately, on time and in line with established guidelines/procedures while adhering to formal or informal Service Level Agreement(s) (SLAs)
  • Identifies, documents, and investigates processes/exceptions arising from transactions/processes beyond first level operations service delivery
  • Coordinates with partners on key initiatives and may act as a project lead/subject matter expert for small-scale projects/ initiatives in accordance with project management methodologies
  • Refers or escalates processing or operational issues as needed based on a solid understanding of the issue, connecting with the appropriate function/partner to facilitate resolution and ensure that service quality is maintained
  • Identifies opportunities to improve service delivery
  • Provides accurate and thorough analysis of key process drivers, root or systemic causes of cross functional operational issues, interpret findings and make recommendations
  • Supports partners with both inbound and outbound requests from various channels, answering questions to perform adjustments within authority levels
  • Contributes to the production of consolidated or aggregated reporting as appropriate
  • Maintains working relationships with customers by resolving customer issues and articulating business processes to respond to customer queries
  • May interact with other partners and vendors, providing guidance and/or addressing questions/concerns in an effective and timely manner

  • Supports the timely and accurate completion of business processes and procedures according to SLA requirements
  • Contributes to business objectives for operational excellence -- identify, suggest and actively participate in improving standards, policies, procedures, and solutions
