Department Overview
Market Risk (MR) is responsible for managing the ever-changing and dynamic world of trading and non-trading market risk, counterparty credit, margin management, and liquidity risk. Within MR, we are accountable for supporting TD Securities and TBSM business objectives in accordance with TD's risk appetite and regulatory expectations. MR provides independent oversight of enterprise-wide market, counterparty credit, and liquidity risks to ensure all significant risks are appropriately measured, reported, analyzed, and transparent.
As a Manager, Market Risk - Equity team, you'll be part of a group that is responsible for a number of activities related to the analysis, reporting, and monitoring of equity risk as well as the development of market risk policies which capture TD's risk appetite for the business unit. You will provide critical insights to senior management, help shape strategic decisions, and ensure the firm is well-positioned to manage market volatility and financial risks.
Job Details
Market Risk Manager - Equities
- Support the risk appetite of the bank related to market risk within the Global Equity Derivatives and Institutional Equities businesses.
- Proactively analyze potential risks and ensure key risks are aggregated / escalated to appropriate areas.
- Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, evolving regulatory requirements, and assess potential impacts.
Risk Reporting
- Provide in-depth analysis and commentary on risk exposures and market trends to senior management.
- Develop, produce and maintain comprehensive market risk reports, ensuring data accuracy and relevance.
- Ensure all market risk practices and procedures comply with relevant regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and evolving risk management standards.
Change Management
- Effectively challenge, propose, and champion projects to improve efficiencies in order to provide more effective business support.
- Understand system and model changes and impacts to our risk and valuation results and processes.
- Identify and drive innovation opportunities.
Collaborate with Business Partners
- Manage relationships with business partners which includes sharing knowledge and identifying opportunities to leverage complementary skills. Partner with our stakeholders to drive and support change and to assist in meeting the bank's objectives.
- Work closely with trading, product control, and other internal teams to ensure effective oversight of market risks.
Job Requirements
- Undergraduate degree and/or 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of market risk, stress, VaR, and capital markets.
- Excellent analytical, judgement and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact with senior stakeholders and convey complex business context clearly and effectively.
- Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion while acting with the highest levels of integrity.
- Proactive and adaptable with the ability to work in a demanding environment while handling multiple competing demands.
