TD Legal is a team dedicated to providing legal advice and counsel to all TD business segments (Retail, Wealth, Insurance, Wholesale, Business Banking) as well as the Corporate Functions including Corporate Development, Enterprise Real Estate, Strategic Sourcing, Treasury, Global Anti-Money Laundering and Enterprise Technology & Shared Services).

Job Overview
The Manager, Change Strategy will support the strategic planning and design of transformational change and innovation objectives within the legal department. The role will drive alignment of change strategies with our business goals, ensuring that change initiatives are carefully designed, purpose-driven, and effectively supported by key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of change management principles, business strategy, and organizational development to help us transform processes, culture, and ways of working within the Legal Department to advance our modernization agenda.
Depth & Scope
This position will be part of the Knowledge Management and Strategic Enablement Team (KMSE) and will implement and provide coaching for change strategy and tactics to lead technology, knowledge management and other innovation projects and initiatives that advance the Legal Strategic Roadmap.
Accountabilities
- Develop Change Strategy and Tactics: Design and lead high-level change strategies and develop comprehensive change management plans that align with the legal departments vision, goals, and objectives.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Define and support the communication of the purpose, benefits, and goals of change initiatives and build relationships to secure buy-in and foster a culture receptive to change
- Alignment with Business Goals: Identify success metrics for each change initiative and track alignment with strategic outcomes.
- Change Impact Assessment: Conduct change impact and risk assessments to understand the implications of change and identify dependencies, resource needs, and potential challenges to the successful implementation of change.
- Communication and Engagement Strategy: Design and execute communication plans that effectively convey the vision, benefits, and process of the change and develop materials for training, FAQs, and internal messaging to support understanding and acceptance of change.
- Leadership Coaching and Guidance: Provide coaching and support to leaders to prepare them for their roles as change sponsors and equip leadership with insights and strategies to drive engagement and support for transformational change initiatives.
- Continuous Improvement: Monitor and assess the progress of change initiatives, providing feedback to adjust strategies as needed and document lessons learned and best practices to support continuous improvement in future change efforts.
Education, Qualifications, and Experience
- Minimum 5-7 years in change management, strategic planning, organizational development, or a related field.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Organizational Development, Human Resources, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
- Change management certifications (e.g., PROSCI, CCMP) are preferred.
- Strong ability to develop and align change strategies with business goals, with a focus on long-term impact and sustainability.
- Skilled in building relationships and influencing stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Ability to assess change impact, perform gap analyses, and create actionable insights to support change success.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and adept at managing change in fast-paced environments.
- Proven track record of successful change strategy implementation.
- Strong business acumen and understanding of how change impacts organizational culture and productivity.
- Ability to work independently and proactively in a strategic capacity, with attention to detail and an eye for continuous improvement.
