Job Description:

The Hardware Services group within Mainframe Delivery is responsible for the Design, Deploy and Support of our Mainframe Hardware Infrastructure including CPUs, Coupling Facilities, DASD, Tape systems and their related connections and management consoles. We are responsible for capacity planning for Mainframe Hardware especially as it relates to CPU capacity and for monitoring and tuning the performance of the z/OS systems. We are responsible for Mainframe Data Replication as it relates to our capabilities to perform Disaster Recovery. We also provide consultation services with Architects, Infrastructure Specialists and application developers on system and application design as it relates to the performance of these systems.

This job posting is for Intermediate Level IT Build Analyst.

The successful candidate will be involved primarily in working with all Mainframe Hardware components as it relates to:

  • Supporting the team as they add new devices to our mainframe environment
  • Assist with the currency planning for various Mainframe Hardware components
  • Supporting the Hardware and Interfaces for the Mainframe Cryptographic services
  • Working with other team members to assist with hardware designs or issues
  • Learning and supporting configuration updates using the IBM tools
  • Continually acquire and maintain knowledge of Performance Management techniques, hardware components, features, and tools that support Mainframe processing.

Experience and Education

  • College / University or equivalent work experience
  • IBM z Explore badges (https://ibmzxplore.influitive.com)
  • Some basic understanding of Mainframe hardware components
  • Willing to develop a working knowledge of Computing and Performance Management Concepts
  • Demonstrate some fundamentals with one or more programming languages
  • Awareness of z/OS concepts
  • Solid problem-solving skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • The successful candidate must be a self-starter, team player, independent researcher, a quick learner and able to collaborate positively with other departments
