Job Description:

The Head of Technology Business Excellence is responsible for aligning technology strategies, finance, operations, and business goals. This role identifies and enables opportunities for process improvements, modernization, and economic efficiencies.

Depth & Scope:

  • Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required
  • Partners with Platforms & Technology Performance management and vendor partners to develop bespoke semi-annual Benchmarking reviews and actionable insights to address opportunities for expense and volume reductions across Labor, Assets and Third Party categories focused on Infrastructure, Application Development, Information Security and other Platforms & Technology domains as required
  • Leverages insights and outcomes from US Technology benchmarking to develop multi-year optimization business cases that drive each product or domain to peer equivalent targets. This includes the creation, maintenance and automation of business case development including robust supplemental data that will specifically inform cost reduction actions over the next 3-5-year time horizon. This function is an enabler of existing optimization opportunities as well as an identifier of incremental opportunities via application / infrastructure modernization, reduction of vendor consumption and support transformational objectives of moving to a Scale Agile framework to ensure operational effectiveness and economic efficiency
  • Collaborates with Technology domain leaders and Technology Finance to activate outcomes by translating committed reductions or efficiencies into multi-year financial targets included in each budget cycle and updated each forecast to document completion or identify delivery or financial risks. This creates the flywheel process back into semi-annual benchmarking activities to monitor progress end-state peer-equivalent targets
  • Partners with US Technology CIO-1 and CIO-2 teams to identify tech modernization opportunities including right-sized investments, tightly coordinated delivery plans and committed tech debt removal all to be summarized via the business case development process
  • Owns and enhances the Bill of Technology engagement process. Leverages the existing reporting and analytics capability build operational routines that allow for frequent business reviews coupled with Front Line Unit requests / directives to reduce tech volumes across the end user and application domains. Critical to this role is the identification of all related technology components and a strong end-to-end decommissioning process to generate the committed tech allocation / expense reductions
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including IT, finance, operations, and business units, to ensure the alignment and integration of technology strategies with overall business objectives
  • Leads efforts to identify, track and resolve risks and issues across the technology economics continuum including technology investments accuracy, delivery or tangible tech outcomes and financial risks / delivery issues
  • Establishes and monitors key performance metrics to measure the success and impact of technology initiatives on financial performance
  • Mentors and develops a high-performing team of technology professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in technology, Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree or relevant certifications are preferred
  • 15+ years of experience in a senior leadership role within the financial services industry, with a focus on technology economics
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry, including regulatory requirements, market trends, and competitive landscape
  • Proven track record of leading and managing cross-functional teams, driving technology-driven economic efficiencies, and achieving business objectives
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • A forward-thinking mindset, with a passion for leveraging technology to drive business transformation and economic value
