Job Description:
The Head of Financial Crimes Management (FCM) Performance Management will play a critical leadership role in setting the strategic direction and overseeing the execution of key initiatives within FCM pillars, which include Fraud Management, KYC (Know Your Customer), Insider Threats, Investigations and Physical Security. This highly technical executive will leverage deep expertise in data, analytics, and risk management to create and drive a comprehensive FCM data/analytics strategy, ensuring alignment across multiple risk disciplines and business partners. The role requires a hands-on leader who will prioritize, organize, and orchestrate analytical needs across all FCM pillars while ensuring operational teams and partners are held to consistent accountability standards.
The Head of Financial Crimes Management (FCM) Performance Management is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of Financial Crimes Management performance. This role leads a team responsible for supporting Financial Crimes Management focused on driving reporting, industry benchmarking, capacity management, business case development and tracking performance metrics to include financial results.
Accountabilities will include:
- Strategic Direction and Roadmap Development: Establish and execute a strategic data/analytics roadmap for FCM pillars, ensuring all activities align with business objectives and risk and regulatory mitigation goals.
- Data Stewardship & Policy Oversight: Lead the development and implementation of FCM data stewardship policies, data retention strategies, and best practices to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance.
- Onboarding of New Data/Metadata: Spearhead the onboarding process for new data sources, metadata, and relevant third-party intelligence, ensuring alignment with FCM's broader data strategy.
- Operational Metrics and Analytics: Define and align operational team metrics and analytics across FCM pillars, ensuring consistent performance measurement and visibility into the effectiveness of FCM initiatives.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with data partners, pillar leads, and other risk disciplines (e.g., AML, Cybersecurity, Industry Transaction Sharing) to ensure seamless integration of analytical processes and outcomes.
- Proactive Threat Detection: Utilize link analysis and advanced analytical techniques to proactively identify and assess emerging criminal threats across TD risk disciplines and industry peers, uncovering common threats and trends.
- Resource and Budget Planning: Lead strategic resource planning efforts in collaboration with FCM pillar leads to ensure the right talent, tools, and technologies are in place to achieve FCM data/analytic goals.
- Leadership and Accountability: Set clear accountability standards for key business partners, fostering a results-driven culture across the FCM function.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in FCM data/analytic processes, ensuring that the function evolves in response to emerging risks, new technologies, and changing business needs.
Depth & Scope:
- Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required
- Accountable executive for Performance Management reporting office for Financial Crimes Management
- Develops an organization of trusted advisors who partner across Financial Crimes Management
- Develops and nurtures talent, including actionable succession plans and a strong bench
- Defines and establishes key performance metrics aligned with the FCM strategic priorities, ensuring they are measurable and actionable
- Partners with Data teams to ensure appropriate data is being leveraged for build out of performance reporting
- Creates and maintains performance dashboards and reporting using visualization systems (e.g., Tableau) to reporting key, metrics, trends and create insights for design making
- Utilizes data to identify performance gaps and identifies areas for opportunity and improvement
- Using performance metrics provides insights to senior leadership, collaborating with partners and LOBs to utilize insights to make decisions aligned with business strategies
- Builds and standardizes routines and processes that support speed, simplicity and agility in decision making and in taking actions
- Strategic partner to leadership team on the management of the portfolio and financials, with deep industry, external / internal, enterprise knowledge, recognizing and anticipating emerging trends and identifying operational efficiencies and opportunities with other business management / enterprise areas
- Delivers strategy, tools, and messaging to support LOB goals; facilitates development and ensures execution of LOB action plans
Education & Experience:
- Undergraduate degree
- 10+ years related experience
- Drives collaboration and partnership with AMCB/TDBG partners where appropriate
- Strong analytical aptitude to analyze data and draw meaningful conclusions
- Expertise in creating and utilizing data visualization to create reporting
- Ability to understand key metric drivers and translate performance data into actionable insights
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and creates partnerships across FCM and stakeholders
- Proven leadership skills, building successful teams that achieve strategic priorities
- Support speed, simplicity, agility in decision making and taking action
