DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

TD Finance is an integral and trusted partner to businesses across the Bank, made-up of diverse teams, strengths and capabilities contributing to TD's overall success. Together, TD Finance helps the Bank make smart business decisions, ensure regulatory compliance and financial reporting accuracy and guard the integrity of TD's business processes, drive efficiencies with external suppliers and manage TD's global real estate portfolio.

Enterprise Finance is responsible for developing and delivering financial strategy, information and management support on an enterprise-wide basis for TD, consistent with TD's enterprise risk appetite. Its mandate encompasses financial, management and regulatory reporting, enterprise strategy and decision support (including financial analysis, planning and forecasting, and performance management), taxation, investor relations and financial control and governance.

The Enterprise Finance team includes the below areas:

  • Financial Reporting Controls Team
  • Accounting Policy and Advisory
  • Business Finance Reporting (Wealth, Wholesale, TD Canada Trust, TD Insurance, Business Banking, etc.)
  • Corporate Finance Reporting (Technology, Digital Channels, Marketing, etc.)
  • Financial & Regulatory Reporting
  • Enterprise Strategy Decision Support/Investor Relations

JOB DESCRIPTION

The opportunity within Financial Reporting Controls team will provide an experience within a Finance organization to help build broad control and governance competencies. This role will not only provide you introductory experience in a professional setting, you will also be equipped with skills and experiences that contribute to the completion of your studies and prepare you to build a career in your chosen discipline. Responsibilities include:

  • Assist the Financial Reporting Controls Team to strengthen the internal financial reporting control environment
  • Assist in conducting reviews against policies, identifying potential gaps for discussion.
  • Participate in project work. For example, rolling out training programs and other initiatives as required
  • Use your strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to add value to the department
  • Provide accurate and thorough data analysis and interpret findings
  • Attend team meetings, provide input and raise issues, risks, opportunities and recommendations to the team for consideration
  • Define opportunities for continued enhancements to processes and make recommendations within assigned area of responsibility
  • Build a diverse skill set, implement process improvements and develop the confidence to tackle challenging tasks

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; with the intent of going back to school at the start of your work term
  • Quick to learn and apply new concepts
  • Take initiative and own projects
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment, able to quickly adapt to change and manage through ambiguities
  • Effective communication skills, organizational and time-management skills
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Ability to make decisions based on a combination of data, professional judgment and common sense
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with business partners
  • Knowledge of financial industry would be considered a strong asset
