Job Description:

The Executive Protection Specialist provides dedicated safety and close protection support for an assigned group of executives, which may include leading security during event and emergency situations as directed, with accountability to report on any incidents. Provides executive protection services including close protection, trip planning, advance work, driver services, corporate event coverage and security coverage for executive offices, external meetings and business trip settings. This role will include emphasis on corporate event security planning and coverage that involves conducting advance work, risk assessments, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a safe and secure environment. Conduct risk assessments to identify potential threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies before corporate events, including geopolitical risks, local crime trends, and venue-specific concerns. Conduct security site surveys, assess risks, and develop detailed security plans for corporate events, meetings, and executive movements.

  • Expert level professional role requiring in-depth knowledge/expertise in the provision of executive protection services and working knowledge of broader related areas

  • Leads projects of moderately to complex risk and resource requirements; may lead end-to-end processes or functional programs
  • Contributes to setting standards within area of expertise
  • Solves complex problems requiring analysis of multiple variables, including consultation with multiple stakeholders
  • Uses advanced methods to contribute to new solutions and recommends standards against which others will operate
  • Impacts a range of functional programs and operations across own and related teams
  • Interprets guidelines, standards, policies and results of analysis to inform decision making at senior levels
  • Builds stakeholder alignment in leading projects and activities; may provide process and subject matter advice at senior levels
  • Works independently as the senior technical lead and guides others within area of expertise
  • Identifies and leads problem resolution for complex issues at all levels

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree or relevant professional certifications, designations, or equivalent required
  • 10+ years relevant experience
  • Prior Law Enforcement, Military and/or prior Corporate Security Executive Protection experience working for C-Suite executives in the provision of executive protection required
  • Requires strong knowledge of security / counter surveillance measures, self-defense techniques and methods and first aid / C.P.R. training (certification preferred)
  • Ability to obtain HR 218 certification (the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act) preferred.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging trends
  • Skill in using computer applications including MS Office
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships
  • Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in making decisions

Customer Accountabilities:

  • Executes on executive protection plans, programs, procedures
  • Provides support with analysis, reporting, and recommendations for improvement, input to help develop metrics and reporting, and data for use in threat and risk assessments and physical security surveys and advances
  • Patrols executive floors, conduct surveillance activities as appropriate, plan and assesses driving routes and identifies and addresses potential safety and security weaknesses
  • Responds to security / safety incidents and effectively manages and deals with emergency situations involving appropriate areas as necessary, which may include adjusting security coverage as needed and acting as the first point of contact for escalations
  • Protects employees, information and assets on the executive floors of the organization
  • Oversees front line support to the executive, enhancing the safety and security of both persons and property by deterring and detecting unlawful incidents, identifying potential dangers and hazards, and minimizing risks at TDBG properties
  • Assists in planning and executing trips and events, manages emergency situations including security threats, but also including emergencies that involve response to natural and man-made disasters, medical emergencies and travel logistics
  • Provides dedicated transportation/logistic service and safety and security support to top Bank executives on bank property or at other venues as needed
  • Liaises with external stakeholders as appropriate
  • Uses knowledge, experience and risk assessment techniques, as well as access to internal and external resources and tools, to create written reports and plans (e.g., security advances, emergency evacuation plans, security concept of operations)
  • Provides security support and advice to internal stakeholders and staff for meetings and events where executives will be present to ensure appropriate level of protection
  • Reacts and advises on regional security developments and security incidents impacting operations.
  • Enhances and establishes awareness and commitment to TD's Executive Protection program
  • Creates and submits detailed reports and logs to supervisors (i.e., updates to databases)
  • Recommends and helps implement emergency/evacuation plans for executives for physical security incidents
  • Manages external relationships with partners in government, security, law enforcement, emergency service officials, and other industry peers

  • Prioritizes and manages own workload to meet service level requirements for service and productivity
  • Understands and applies operating policies and procedures
  • Follows internal and industry regulations and operating practices in completing and recording transactions
  • Escalates non-standard or high risk activities as necessary
  • Ensures documentation that is prepared / completed is accurate and properly reflects business intentions and is consistent with relevant rules / regulations
  • Reports / escalates risk issues or process gaps identified
  • Identifies and recommends opportunities to enhance productivity, effectiveness and operational efficiency
  • Ensures necessary due diligence to support the accuracy of all transactions / activities
  • Be knowledgeable of and comply with Bank Code of Conduct
  • Participates in the annual planning cycle which may include confirming quarterly forecast amounts (invoices and estimates) for quarterly budget lockdown
  • Manages the appropriate use of assigned resources (i.e., people, budget, processes) within area of responsibility
  • Plans and delivers efficient and cost-effective processes that support and promote the implementation of programs
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of processes/services and recommends/champions possible enhancements
  • Ensures a high level of service by setting clear service standards, measuring effectiveness, maintaining appropriate resources and streamlining processes to meet/exceed standards
  • Adheres to enterprise frameworks or methodologies that relate to activities for respective business area(s)
  • Consistently exercises discretion in managing correspondence, information and all matters of confidentiality; escalates issues where appropriate
  • Protects the interests of the organization - identifies and manages risks, and ensures the prompt and thorough resolution of escalated non-standard, high risk issues
  • Conducts meaningful analysis at the functional or enterprise level using results to draw conclusions, make recommendations, assess the effectiveness of programs/policies/practices
  • Monitors service, productivity and assesses efficiency levels within own function and implements continuous process/performance improvements where opportunities exists
  • Applies subject matter expertise in the discipline, provides guidance, assistance and direction to others
  • Actively manages relationships within and across various business lines, corporate and/or control functions and ensures alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements
