Within TD Invent is the TD Enterprise Innovation team where our highly collaborative pods of Product Owners, Designers and Developers work together to ideate, explore, and validate innovative solutions that will change the way the bank thinks about its customers - one sprint at a time. JOB DESCRIPTION
Co-op and Internship opportunities allow you to gain valuable work experience across a number of the businesses at TD. You will work with experienced colleagues, receive world class training, and be part of a community of students across TD, where you will have an impact, grow as an individual and experience our culture of care.

Our Co-op/Intern Programming is offered with select Co-op and Internship roles and is designed to help you better understand the TD business, build on critical career capabilities, and broaden your professional network. This program is designed to complement your on-the job experience and features:

  • Leadership talks with key Leaders from across the organization
  • Lunch & Learns on topics such as Innovation, Diversity & Inclusion, Personal Branding and so much more

As a User Experience Designer Intern/Co-op within Enterprise Innovation, which includes TD Lab, explore emerging technologies and work with pods to explore concepts and test with users on how we might improve customer experiences.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Exploring user & business needs through design, prototyping, and testing ideas with customers
  • Answering critical user and business questions using TD's Innovation Framework, which incorporates Business Design/Design Thinking and Agile methodologies
  • Conducting user research and interviews to help understand customer problems
  • Developing storyboards, mockups, and prototypes to effectively communicate design ideas
  • Executing UX and visual design requirements as part of a team
  • Working closely with product owners and pod members to bring a solution to life

You will receive one-on-one mentorship with the Enterprise Innovation and TD Lab's user experience designers and have the chance to work on multiple projects throughout the term. You will have the opportunity to act like an intrapreneur and flex your creative muscles, bringing impactful ideas to life while taking on challenging design tasks. JOB REQUIREMENTS
The basics (required to be considered):


  • Must have a visually clear resume with a clear link to your portfolio. Your resume should be easy to read & clearly explain your past roles and experience.
  • Must have a portfolio, with at least 2 UX case studies (more details below).
  • Knowledge of design tools, specifically Figma and Figjam.

The extras (nice to haves):

  • Demonstrable passion and curiosity for design & learning more about UX
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, & takes initiative in their work, as demonstrated by extracurriculars, class projects, etc.

HOW WE EVALUATE CANDIDATES
Your resume and portfolio should work together to showcase why you are the right person for this role.

What makes a strong UX Resume:

  • Highlight relevant work or classroom experience
  • Tell us about the impact you've had in past roles
  • Identify the tools and practices you've had exposure to
  • Be visually appealing (consider things like alignment, spelling, etc.)
  • Provide a link to your portfolio (don't rely on embedded links!)
  • Be 1-2 pages, maximum

What makes a strong UX Portfolio:

  • Be easy to access and read - treat your portfolio like a UX Design project and try to consider accessibility, consistency, usability, etc.
  • Contain at least 2 UX case studies so we can better evaluate your experience & design process

Have some relevant work, but not sure how to build a case study? That's OK - this role is open to students of all experience levels, and we encourage you to apply. Here's a guide to what we look for:

  • Project context / background and timelines
  • Your role and responsibilities & project timeline
  • The core problem you're solving, from a user's perspective
  • The methods used for primary and/or secondary research - and the key findings from your research
  • Your final design solution, showing how it solves the problem you identified
  • Reflection on what you learned from the project

  • This position is a 4-month work term and will commence January 2025. Please indicate if your academic program does not align to this timeframe in your resume or cover letter. Flexibility in the length of term can be discussed with top candidates.
  • Must be enrolled at a post-secondary institution as of the start of and during the work term.

TEAM CULTURE
One of the things that the TD Enterprise Innovation team prides ourselves in is our team culture. It's not uncommon to see kiddos or pets pop into video calls or for a team member to take a meeting while walking their dog. In the warmer months, there's usually a few of us outside for meetings. We have a weekly "Fundatory Friday'' event where we play games together. There's at least one messaging channel dedicated to pictures of pets and babies. We celebrate how terrible we are at March Madness Brackets.

LOCATION
Physically centered in either Kitchener or Toronto. Our teams are currently operating in a Hybrid model, with the expectation that employees are present in either our Kitchener or Toronto offices a minimum of two days per week on our specified anchor days. TD requires employees to reside in the country where the role is located, irrespective of working arrangements.

HOURS
Monday-Friday, standard business hours.
