Decarbonization Data Analytics and Developer

TD's Sustainability strategy includes initiatives focused on greenhouse gas emissions, sustainable finance, climate issues and solutions in carbon intensive sectors, and developing a TD perspective on the transition to the low carbon economy. This is a high priority area for the Bank, with engagement from senior executives across the enterprise.

Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Manager, the Manager will support scope 3 financed emissions calculation routine for all of TD's retail portfolios. The Manager will play an integral role in TD's efforts to prepare disclosures for upcoming regulatory requirements, such as OSFI's Climate Risk Return and OSFI B-15. The Manager will work with the Sustainability Reporting team, Enterprise Data & Analytics, and other key business partners within the bank to establish a monitoring and reporting process for scope 3 financed emissions metrics.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Support the development, maintenance and documentation of the bank's scope 3 financed emissions for the auto loan and residential mortgage portfolios
  • Support the migration, maintenance and curation of raw data on cloud
  • Work alongside the team to develop data management and data analytics in cloud
  • Utilize geospatial analysis techniques to assess climate risks
  • Identify trends, and insights in scope 3 financed emissions metrics to provide actionable business intelligence
  • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance reporting practices to meet growing stakeholder needs
  • Coordinate with external assurance partners on annual assurance activities
  • Prepare presentations, briefings and summaries for executive audience

Job Requirements:

Minimum 7+ years relevant experience. A Masters or Doctoral degree in Climate Science, Environmental Science, Data Science, Geospatial Analysis, or a related field

Key Skills:

Must have:

  • Program Language : Python, SQL
  • Experience managing git repositories within an agile workflow
  • Experience with ArcGIS, QGIS, or other geospatial analytics tools
  • Strong written communication skills for documentation
  • Strong critical thinking, research, and analysis skills, with the ability to uncover and synthesize findings and results based on complex technical calculations
  • Possess the ability to synthesize large amounts of complex data into key and concise messages for the senior leadership team

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience working with GitHub
  • Cloud (Azure) experience including DataBricks
  • Knowledge of climate change related principles and issues
  • Able to thrive in fast moving and ambiguous environments
