Data Engineer- DaaS

Job Description
The Lead Azure Data Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing data solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform. This role involves leading a team of data engineers in building scalable, efficient, and secure data pipelines, data lakes, and data warehouses to support business intelligence and analytics initiatives. The individual will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, business analysts, product owners, technology leaders, quality engineers, business stakeholders and cloud architects, to ensure the integration of data systems and the seamless flow of information across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the design, development, and deployment of data solutions on Azure, working closely with cross-functional teams, including product owners, technology leaders, quality engineers, and business stakeholders.
• Architect and implement data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data lakes.
• Optimize data systems for scalability, performance, and cost efficiency.
• Ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance with data governance standards.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and product owners to define data requirements and deliver actionable insights.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior data engineers.
• Stay updated with the latest Azure tools, technologies, and best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline issues and performance bottlenecks.
• Manage the integration of multiple data sources and ensure proper data flow across systems.
• Work with technology leaders to ensure alignment between data infrastructure and overall architectural vision.
• Collaborate with quality engineers to ensure the reliability and accuracy of data systems.
Qualifications
• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure data services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, Azure Synapse Analytics).
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, and Spark.
• Expertise in data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL/ELT processes.
• Experience with big data technologies, data lakes, and real-time data processing.
• Proven track record in leading and mentoring data engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance standards.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business goals.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Preferred Skills
• Certifications in Azure data services (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate).
• Familiarity with machine learning workflows and Azure ML.
• Experience in Agile or Scrum methodologies.
EXPERIENCE AND / OR EDUCATION
- Degree, Postgraduate Degree, or Technical Certificate in Data Management or related discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering), or equivalent practical experience
- Graduate Degree nice to have
- 5-7 years of relevant experience
