Job Description:

The Associate Vice President, Finance, Governance and Control, Data Strategy and 1B Data Governance reports to the Vice President, Finance, Audit, HR, Legal, Governance & Control and Business Management and is responsible for leading a dedicated team of Finance professionals responsible for the end-to-end Finance data governance strategy and 1B support.

Associate Vice Presidents (AVP) at TD Bank Financial Group are strategic, responsible, and accountable members of the Bank's leadership team. Position Specific Accountabilities:

This role serves as the AVP leading the Finance team providing governance and control support for the end-to-end Finance data governance strategy and 1B support. This role also provides senior financial and operational thought leadership to the Vice President, Finance, Audit, HR, Legal, Governance & Control and Business Management. In addition, the team works closely with a range of partners including EDS, Chief Accountant's department and Financial Operations.

Finance and Business Leadership Accountabilities:

  • Lead the Finance Data Strategy team to ensure that data used and owned by Finance is fully understood, accessible, adequately controlled and fit for purpose and adheres to policies, standards, risk identification and management of data for projects and BAU activities.
  • Owns and leads the Finance Data Management Strategy and Roadmap. Designs, monitors, measures and reports on Roadmap execution and progress and supports the implementation of new and evolving Enterprise Data Standards across in response to increasing risk and regulatory expectations.
  • Responsible for stakeholder management and communication with EDM, business segments & corporate functions
  • Provides data management leadership and mandate execution, develops change management and decision protocols to advance adherence to enterprise-wide policies and standards
  • Data subject matter expert, providing executives with advice, guidance, and intelligence on current issues, and emerging market and industry trends
  • Develops and leads the 1B GRC data stewardship COE teams responsible for governance and oversight for effective management, control and use of data assets and provide advisory support on implementation of policy & standards
  • Proactive in managing emerging risk and championing the identification, escalation, and resolution of data issues
  • Lead and/or participate in the Finance and Risk Platform (FRP) project, partnering with the project team and business/data owners to ensure data quality and retention of analytic capability through transition.
  • Provides people management leadership and builds a strong team through hiring, setting goals, development, managing performance, promoting teamwork, productivity and innovation
  • Accountable for the education and continuous development of data management professionals for areas supported

Specific Educational Requirements / Accreditations

  • CA/CMA/CGA/MBA/CFA

Other Qualifications / Skills / Experience

  • A finance executive / top level professional with broad range of financial management and advisory experience with extensive understanding of the business and key financial drivers
  • Possess advance level of expertise and financial acumen to provide insight on strategy development and be a strategic partner to the business on a broad range of financial matters
  • Balanced approach, ability to stay resilient under pressure
  • People leadership is key element to this role - both the ability to effectively work in teams across the bank with multiple stakeholders, influence and align others
  • Proven ability to manage a diverse group of professionals is critical to success in this role
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills to meet tight deadlines as well as flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
  • Confident presentation and facilitation skills and strong interpersonal and leadership skills to facilitate working with business and senior management at all levels.
  • Excellent analytical skills in assessing finance / market and business issues and exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)
