Global Transaction Banking ("GTB") is comprised of four business lines: Corporate Cash Management ("CCM"), Financial Institutions, Global Trade Finance and Export Agency Finance. Support functions include: Credit Structuring, Product Strategy and Innovation, Business Intelligence and Business Risk / Control.

GTB is a key growth business within TDS offering innovative solutions and treasury advisory services on large and complex liquidity, payments and trade needs. Over the last decade, we have seen unprecedented levels of innovation within our industry which GTB continually adapts to meet our client's needs. GTB is highly integrated within TDS and TD Bank Financial Group and works in close partnership with Risk, Operations, Legal, GAML, and Treasury and Balance Sheet Management.

CCM provides treasury management products to Canadian public companies and the subsidiaries of global multi-nationals. Treasury management consists of the collection, disbursement and management of money, and the related information technology required to implement this. CCM provides the linkages between these large corporate clients and the global payments system, through a variety of technology-based products, supported by high caliber sales and execution personnel. Each client typically receives a bespoke solution that allows their systems to connect with those of TD, to facilitate money movement on an automated basis. We have teams throughout Canada and the U.S. and call on clients around the world.

Job Description:

This position provides an entry point to a sales and relationship management focused career. We are looking for more than just an Analyst. We are seeking a recruit with the potential for a long-term career with our team. Initially the Analyst will provide core and direct client management functions, while support more senior members of the team with business development. Although you will deal directly with clients from day one, the expectation is that you will increasingly focus on sales and business development as you progress in your career. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a deep intellectual curiosity, a passion for corporate finance and technology and outstanding interpersonal skills/EQ.

The Analyst is the entry level to the Corporate Cash Management Team. While the role will require client interaction at all time, there is a large body of domain knowledge that will be learned on the job. We are selling technology and innovation, and productive client interactions require a solid understanding of these matters before one can be truly effective in the role. Accordingly, expect a very steep learning curve. We will provide training, but it is essential that you can find ways to autonomously drive your learning and take a degree of responsibility for your development by proactively seeking out opportunities for learning and improvement.

This position is based in Montreal. Progression within the team will require gradually more travel to meet and build relationships with clients. A willingness to relocate in future would be advantageous, but not essential, as we have big plans for growth around the world.

Job Accountabilities:

As a member of the Corporate Cash Management team, the Analyst will perform the following tasks:

  • Understand the overall TDS client origination strategy, particularly that of Corporate and Investment Banking
  • Support activity to increase sales revenue by adding new clients and increasing the penetration and profitability of cash management products and services
  • Attend client pitches with Cash Management team members and other TDS calling officers, primarily as an observer
  • Work closely with Cash Management RMs to complete RFPs and create pitch decks
  • Work closely with other partners in TD Securities (U.S. and Canada) and TDBG including: Investment Banking, Credit Origination, Credit Management, Foreign Exchange, Money Markets and Trade Finance, as well as Business Banking to monetize cash management opportunities
  • Lead the onboarding & maintenance of cash management clients, including overseeing anti-money laundering compliance
  • Manage the implementation of new products and services, including negotiation of legal documents
  • Manage cash management specific credit facilities, including liaison with credit management and risk management functions
  • Continuously learn about new and current cash management products and manage diverse projects
  • Act as primary point of contact for relatively simple clients
  • Act as secondary point of contact, in support of senior team members for more sophisticated clients

Job Requirements (Qualifications):

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree, with strong academics
  • Industry experience and accreditations (CFA, CTP, CertICM, etc) are highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills French & English (written and spoken)
  • Advanced analytical and data manipulation skills
  • Creative problem-solver
  • Self-starter with a positive attitude and good sense of humour
  • Life accomplishments that demonstrate motivation to achieve results, commitment to excellence and willingness to go above and beyond
  • Demonstrated ability to work well individually and as part of a team
