Job Description:

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The TD Bank Group (TD) Financial Crime Risk Management (FCRM) is accountable for establishing TD's Global Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing Program (AML/ATF) to ensure that all TD businesses remain compliant with AML/ATF regulatory expectations in all jurisdictions where TD operates. This includes ensuring that businesses are aware of the legislation under which they are governed and providing advice and support as required. The team is also accountable for promoting regulatory compliance by developing and maintaining AML compliance programs, including relevant training, carrying out independent oversight monitoring and meeting reporting requirements.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The AML Financial Crime Risk Oversight (AML FCRO) team is looking for someone who is interested in a "big picture", cross-functional governance and monitoring role. The AML Advisory Analyst will support the development and maintenance of a 2nd Line oversight program for the implementation of AML/ATF and sanctions controls in the business lines supported by the AML FCRO team. The AML Advisory Analyst will execute controls testing procedures, on behalf of the Head of AML, AML FCRO, work with business-facing Relationship Advisors on the AML FCRO team to assess the effectiveness of AML/ATF and sanctions controls and identify potential areas of improvement for the first line AML/ATF/Sanctions program.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Work with members of the AML FCRO team to ensure key AML/ATF and sanctions controls are designed and operating effectively on an on-going basis.
  • Evaluations of controls deficiencies and non-compliance to identify root cause to facilitate the development of effective action plans.
  • Develop strong relationships and work collaboratively with business partners who are responsible for providing the information that feeds into the monitoring program
  • Effectively identify emerging risks through advanced analysis of high-volume and complex data that require further consideration or escalation
  • Contributes to the reporting of program results, trends, themes, and emerging risks, as delivered by the Head of AML - AML FCRO
  • Collaborates with other members of the AML FCRO team to foster a "culture of compliance" within the business units.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • A curious and inquisitive mindset, with a proven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, fast-paced, and evolving environment.
  • Perform data manipulation and apply analytic techniques to derive insights from complex data into reports and presentations for dissemination to an executive audience
  • Ability to corroborate structured and non-structured data to tell a coherent and insightful story.
  • Ability to grasp new concepts/information to facilitate effective risks identification and controls evaluation.
  • Excellent business acumen and good understanding of risk and controls evaluation processes such as those for financial reporting or operations.
  • Strong critical thinking, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Superior writing skills with the ability to draft superior quality assessments/reports, policies, procedures, and business correspondence
  • Proactive and motivated, with demonstrated consensus building skills
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Data, Business/Commerce, or related field; with the intent of going back to school at the start of your work term

  • This position is a 4-month work term and will commence January 6th - April 25th, 2025.
