Remote role. Candidate must reside near an international airport on the Southeast side of the United States- AL, GA, FL, SC, NC, TN, VA.
Job Summary:
This role entails overseeing safety and compliance tasks for the transportation operation, covering driver training, safety audits, truck camera support, and investigating fleet-related collisions and incidents in a Sysco identified market(s). Responsibilities extend to ensuring adherence to federal, state, and organizational laws and regulations, with a deep understanding of the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance issues.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding transportation and workplace safety.
- Monitoring driver qualification files (DQF) and the hiring and selection process
- Reviewing Hours of Service (HOS) records for accuracy
- Assuring all DOT drug / alcohol programs are compliant with regulations
- Review pre and post trips for compliance and repairs
- Compliance, Safety & Accountability (CSA) reports, documents and collisions
Direct and manage the company truck camera system(s) for compliance, policies, protocols and procedures.
- Review behavior events for coaching and provide feedback to locations
- Provide training, access and management to the system to all locations
- Perform maintenance on the system as appropriate
Oversee the Collision Management process including coordination of reporting, investigation, documentation, and management of incidents.
- Review file contents for accuracy and documents needed
- Work with locations to determine preventable decisions
- Assure proper accountability is delivered for preventable accidents
- Work with attorneys and claims on mitigation
Conduct, develop and update transportation safety training.
- Conduct defensive driving training including in cab observations to monitor driver performance.
- Monitor driver training is completed with every driver
- Review different content including rollover, load securement, backing, mirror, maneuvering principles, and other safety training for updates
- Monitor driver and operator performance and address trends
- Work with Operations Academy on transportation safety related content and materials
Administer Audits and Inspections of locations, drivers and compliance files
- Conduct maintenance and Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR) audits to determine maintenance compliance with regulations
- Conduct periodic inspections of trucks to ensure proper maintenance
- Review DOT and FMCSA records and compliance documents
All other Sysco EHSS initiatives, programs and expectations
- Assist with IFDA and other Tucking Associations meetings and events
- Recognition and other reward programs
- Support all Sysco Operations and Corporate Programs
Education Required:
Associate's Degree/ Two years of College + Two (2) years of related work experience OR four (4) years of related work experience
Education Preferred:
Bachelor's + Two (2) years of related work experience
Experience Required:
(5) years of related work experience in FMCSA & DOT compliance, managing large regions of North America with 4500+ trucks and drivers, truck camera deployment and management
Experience Preferred:
(10) years of related work experience in DOT compliance, transportation management with large regions of North America with 4500+ trucks and drivers, truck camera deployment and management
Licenses/Certification Required:
State issued Commercial Driver's License CDL
Licenses/Certification Preferred:
State issued Commercial Driver's License CDL , NATMI Certification (or similar) as Director of Safety, Safety Supervisor or Driver Trainer.
Technical Skills and Abilities:
- Three (3) years of having maintained a CDL Class A, and experience operating a tractor trailer, HazMat, Doubles and Triples.
- Excellent communication skills
- Organized individual, ability to prioritize.
- Samsara (or similar) EROADS(or similar) EHS Software, DataQ, UCR regulations etc.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, TEAMS, Zoom, and Audio/Visual tools.
Language Requirements:
English required at an intermediate-advanced level (orally and in writing).

Travel Requirements:
Must be able to travel to Sysco facilities in US up to 50% of the time
Work Environment:
- Must be able to work in various indoor, outdoor, freezer and cooler climates and driving conditions for a 24 hour, 7 days a week operation.
- Works near moving trucks, trailers, yard equipment, fuel areas, warehouses, material handling equipment, and other similar areas.
- Occasionally exposed to dust, fumes, and airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
- May be required to work holidays and weekends as necessary.
- The noise level in the work environments are usually moderate.
