This is a technical role. You must have some developer or devops background to be successful in it. You are going to support a successful product in life division of Symetra.
What you'll do in this role
- As a Senior Technical Program Manager, you'll be Reporting to the Director of Engineering, and you will act as the glue between software engineering teams and stakeholders. You will work with business, operations, IT, product management teams, UX designers and translate the concepts into engineering backlog.
- You will become an expert at driving cloud native complex insurance product domains.
- You will create quarterly goals KPIs, yearly roadmaps and resource planning.
- Your first few tasks will be to understand insurance domain, learn distributed system architecture for on AWS and know legacy insurance systems.
- You will orchestrate Agile delivery of large scale, highly available, and complex cloud native solutions.
- You will define the technical specifications for complex domain problems and bring clarity to software engineers, so they can implement the required features with most effective outcomes and experience. You are a key part of backlog refining and prioritization process.
- You will be experienced in leading the intellectual respect of engineers as well as run extremely effective projects on compressed timelines while dealing with ambiguity with grace and maturity.
- You will have excellent communication skills, be able to articulate program status to a wide-ranging audience including SLT. Data is your ally, and you will utilize it to enable data driven decisions.
- You will develop and manage project schedules, identify risks and clearly communicate them to project stakeholders, define problem solving and risk mitigation strategies, and facilitate conflict resolution through the full project cycle.

Compensation
Salary Range: $115,600 - $192,000 plus eligibility for the company annual bonus program.
Requirements
Your education, skills and experience
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 5+ years of program management experience including dealing with multiple teams across organizations and geographies.
- 2+ years of experience as software developer or Devops engineer.
- Ability to develop detailed technical specifications.
- While coding is not required, the ability to debug and troubleshoot technical issues is required.
- Experience in knowing SOAP/JSON payload.
- Experience with Cloud services such as AWS, Azure or GCP, modern development stack including nodeJS, ReactJS/AngularJS, SQL/NoSQL/Hadoop/PowerBI/Tableau.
- Proven track record of delivering complex technology services in the Cloud.
- Excellent organizational skills and project tracking abilities; strong focus and attention to detail; the ability to work in a very fast-paced, hectic, and energetic environment, yet able to maintain high quality standards; project/task prioritization and schedule development.
- Ability to succeed and thrive in an entrepreneurial environment and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and develop productive working relationships with resources and dependent teams.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, and comfortable presenting in large groups and handling high-pressure communication with senior management.
- Experience with managing large cross-functional projects.
- A proven track record for being detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability to self-motivate and follow-through on projects.
- Able to collect, analyze and present data sets support project goals and initiatives.
