Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Investment Reporting Analyst within our Investment Management Team!

About the role

As the Investment Reporting Analyst, you are a key participant in the Symetra Investment Management Co.'s ("SIM") investment accounting close and reporting cycle. You'll be an impactful member of our investment reporting team responsible for transforming large amounts of investment data and other information into presentations and tools that tell the story of our clients' portfolios.

You will complete portfolio valuation, analyze company results for both internal and external parties, provide support to the investment front office and performance measurement team, and contribute to projects within the investment reporting department as needed. You understand the fundamentals of investment accounting and reporting requirements, with an ability and interest to take on complex tasks while continuously building your skills and knowledge. You have experience with BI tools or a willingness to learn new technology to provide additional insight for portfolio management teams and reporting. At times, the business may need additional hours of work outside of the norm to support initiatives, cyclical reporting and covering teammates, though overall you will experience great work-life balance with abundant flexibility.

What you will do

  • Produce recurring investment reports timely, accurately and completely, including monthly portfolio summaries (risk package); reporting for clients, front office, board of directors, and the investment committee.
  • Perform month-end portfolio pricing procedures such as reasonableness and completeness checks, as well as due diligence to ensure accurate portfolio valuations. Experience with derivatives is a strong plus.
  • Create summary materials highlighting significant changes/events and valuation metrics, to be presented to the Valuation Committee of the Board for their review and approval.
  • Support the investment performance function and help adhere to, and maintain, procedures that further GIPS®-compliant performance results.
  • Develop new investment reports, as needed, to assess and analyze the impact of current market events and/or fulfill ad hoc requests.
  • Coordinate with all levels of investment and finance management across the broader organization to gather, analyze and prepare internal and external investment financial reports.
  • Translate large datasets into meaningful analysis for a wide audience.
  • Support the investment month-end close and reporting cycles.
  • Partner with team members to improve processes and workflows with an emphasis on building value, transparency and sustainability.
  • Maintain procedural documentation for assigned areas.

Salary Range: $66,600-$110,900 plus eligibility for annual bonus program

Requirements

Your education and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Management Information Systems, Data Science or Computer Science
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Confirmed understanding of investments, including fixed income asset classes. Derivatives and alternative investments experience a plus.
  • CFA or CIPM certification or progress towards one is a strong plus
  • Understanding of investment accounting
  • Experience using SimCorp Dimension and/or Clearwater accounting system a plus
  • Experience in PowerBI, SQL, stored procedures, relational databases, and/or data warehousing/marts
