About the role
We have a number of initiatives, applications and tools that need support from someone with full-stack engineering skills. They include:
- Creating FAC Exchange API integrations to send policy information to our reinsurers
- Supporting Web Services to provide real-time access to our legacy policy administration system
- Building out illustration APIs to integrate with an external illustration partner
- Supporting the move from Kong to Apigee for API management
- Enhancing the cloud-native NB Checklist application to improve new business processing
- Supporting Swish to upload New Business forms into our workflow system
- Supporting cloud-based LEAP component to search for previously purchased insurance
- Enhancing Compass CRM functionality
- Enhancing Inforce Illustration APIs for new products.
This is clearly more work than one individual can do. We need someone to help lead, build and teach the rest of our team in development and support of these items.
What you will do
- Be part of Agile teams working to move our legacy applications to more modern platforms
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to understand and improve feature design and development
- Be responsible for the full lifecycle of your code - from development and testing to implementation and operational support
- Build and maintain APIs that are highly available, scalable and reusable
- Enable analytics, logging and monitoring for all services
- Support continuous deployments through automated CI/CD pipelines
- Lead and participate in design and code reviews
- Evaluate new systems for their compliance to technical best practices
- Support division-wide technical stewardship activities
- Mentor current Life IT staff on full-stack processes and skills.

Salary Range: $115,600 - $192,700 plus eligibility for the company annual bonus program target of 10%.

Your experience and skills
We want you to be proficient in the major soft skills - good communication, good team player, self-starter, organized, etc. But what is MOST IMPORTANT is we want you to be a self-starter, committed learner and great teammate.
In addition, we'd like you to have some of the following technical skills:
- Languages: Python, AngularJS, JavaScript, C#, HTML, PowerShell, WSDL
- Web Technologies: Servlets, EJB, XSLT, Java Applets
- Server Platforms: NodeJS, IIS, WebSphere
- Databases: DynamoDB, SQL Server, MySQL
- Development Tools: Eclipse, ADO Repos/Pipelines, Angular, Visual Studio
- Web Services: SOAP and REST APIs
- Cloud Technologies: API Gateway, AWS Cognito, AWS Lambda, CloudWatch, CloudFormation
- Others: ACORD, XML, JSON, OpenAPI
