The Maintenance Reliability Specialist is responsible for leading efforts to improve asset care and improve asset performance. This role contributes to the success of maintenance operations by working with the maintenance team for work planning and adherence to the maintenance plan. The Maintenance Reliability Specialist is the primary person for determining spare parts inventory additions and subtractions and creates, manages and updates preventative maintenance plans for company assets.
Role Responsibilities
- Maintain the availability of the sites' technical documentation to support the maintenance staff.
- Creation and updates to asset PM plans.
- Implement, execute, monitor, and maintain processes that enhance manufacturing efficiency and maximize plant productivity.
- Implement and maintain process for continuous improvement and cost reduction in maintenance and plan execution across the site.
- Provide technical assistance to maintenance and production personnel.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on major failures and downtime incidents.
- Utilize scientific methods to determine reliability of mechanical components, equipment, and processes.
- Use results of RCM, RCA, MTBF, and other reliability analysis tools, and studies to develop recommendations for maintenance improvements that maximize equipment availability, life expectancy, and drive maintenance cost reduction.
- Performs Management of Change (MOC) reviews to ensure safe operation and design of equipment and related changes.
- Develops processes to manage maintenance tools, stores & equipment.
- Applies engineering technology to improve safety and environmental related issues.
- Work with maintenance team to develop critical spares inventory for assets.
- Engage in proactive professional development in maintenance reliability related areas through seminars, conferences, and formal training.
- Support the Maintenance Manager and Supervisor with annual budget estimates by providing accurate historical data from past maintenance department performance.
- Help develop, report and follow-up on key performance indicators (KPI's).
- Assist in educating operations and facilities personnel in maintenance management methodology.
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas utilizing 5S methodology.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

- Mechanical and electrical aptitude. Must be able to interface with mechanical, electrical, and civil construction contractors as well as equipment manufacturers, technicians, and diagnosticians.
- RCM and RCA facilitator experience (willing to train the right candidate)
- Strong technical knowledge in maintenance crafts, possesses mechanical inclination, understands tools & various equipment.
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Must have an acute sense of visual and auditory observation of the plant environment.
- Must have good understanding of maintenance craft skills.
- Must be a team player.
- Must be computer literate:
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management software (CMMS). (Willing to train the right candidate (GuideTi))
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
- Good working knowledge of Windows 10 operating system.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Obtain and continually refresh personal knowledge of all plant equipment, buildings, documentation, etc...
- Interact positively with employee's and visitors to the Cruzan Rum Distillery including tour program visitors, corporate visitors, and VIPs.
