Job Description

Success Academy Charter Schools is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented and dynamic Senior Specialist for Travel Team Sports to lead and oversee all aspects of our travel sports programs. This role is pivotal in managing teams, coaches, trainers, and players across various age groups, ensuring the development and operational success of our travel sports initiatives. The Senior Specialist will collaborate closely with the Athletic Director and other stakeholders to promote the holistic development of scholar athletes through structured coaching programs and robust player development strategies. The Senior Specialist for Travel Team Sports will supervise the Senior Associate for Travel Team Sports.

• Manage approximately 35 travel sports coaches, providing leadership and professional development
• Develop and implement an education and training curriculum for travel sports coaches
• Coordinate delivery of training curriculum and collaborate with the Senior Associate for Travel Sports
• Establish effective player selection processes and oversee tryouts for all travel teams and age groups
• Host seasonal coach orientation and education events
• Develop training schedules for teams in collaboration with coaching staffs
• Report to and work closely with the Athletic Director on travel sports matters

• Create player development seasonal schedules
• Build relationships with external travel sports vendors to enhance coaching content and support tools
• Establish a travel sports methodology and playing style that aligns with Success Academy's values across all teams and age groups
• Design and enforce a code of conduct for coaches; monitor implementation of practice sessions aligned with Success Academy's curriculum and core values

• Design and implement a comprehensive coaching education program incorporating classroom and practical sessions
• Organize specialist clinics, camps, and workshops with guest presenters; coordinate attendance
• Create educational programs for Success Academy coaches to foster skill development and adherence to best practices
• Provide ongoing support, mentoring, and feedback to coaches, parents, and players
• Assist in establishing a Junior Coach training program for aspiring young coaches
• Build and organize a coaching library of resources

• Provide on-field support for scholar athletes and coach players and teams as needed
• Conduct in-season and off-season clinics and programs
• Serve as Success Academy's representative at travel sports league meetings; lead meetings as required
• Maintain positive relationships and open communication with coaching staff, parents, players, and the community
• Provide written evaluations for coaching staff performance
• Participate in hiring and termination processes for travel sport coaching staff

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in Sports Science, Sports Management, Coaching and Leadership, Physical Education, or a closely-related field
• Minimum 6 years of full-time experience coaching youth travel sports, including:
  
  
  • 2+ years as a Head Coach or head of an age group at a professional club/academy level
• Experience managing professional coaching staff and overseeing programs with at least 1,000 players across different age groups
• Demonstrated expertise in coach education and creating age group development programs
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, and other relevant software
• Strong knowledge of periodization and holistic development of youth scholar athletes

• May involve frequent bending, moving, lifting and carrying material up to 50 pounds
• Standing up to eight hours each day
• Working in all weather conditions and exposure to high noise levels
