Job Description
The Lead Payroll will have primary day-to-day responsibility for processing payroll for 3,000+ employees. He/she will oversee a team of 1-2 team members and report directly to the Assistant Controller.

Responsibilities
- Process semi-monthly payroll for 3000+ employees.
- Serve as the subject matter expert related to payroll rules and regulations within NYS and across the US.
- Highly knowledgeable in withholdings including payroll taxes, medical and 403(b) elections, garnishments, and other benefit deductions.
- Optimize and audit the payroll process to increase compliance and ensure accuracy.
- Maintain and improve payroll integration between the HRIS system and payroll processing system.
- Manage all employee changes and adjustments.
- Process benefits and employee information changes.
- Responsible for issuance of annual W2 statements.
- Manage employee inquiries via emails or internal tickets.
- Liaise with external brokers, vendors, and 403b financial advisors.
- Drive process improvements and innovation within the payroll process.
- Build relationships across the company and act as a business partner on payroll matters. Serve as a key partner to benefits, HR, FP&A and other accounting teams.
- Complete ad hoc projects including general filings, payroll reports, accounting support projects, audit inquiries, etc.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience processing payroll in ADP Workforce Now; Workday preferred
- 8+ years of direct payroll experience.
- Must be collaborative, hands-on, results-oriented, innovative, and operate with the utmost integrity
- Knowledge of Federal, State and Local Laws including FLS
- Brings transformation experience and is a change agent
- Is a clear communicator with influential and effective interpersonal skills and refined emotional intelligence to enable building strong relationships;
- Thinks critically about the details of a task at hand
- Communication with stakeholders. Gears communications towards the target audience and employs negotiation and buy-in skills as needed
- Is a quick problem solver with the ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, high volume environment;
- Intermediate to advanced excel skills strongly preferred, including multi-function formulas, pivot-tables, and formatting techniques
Compensation Range
: $145,000.00 - $160,000.00
